Kyrylo Fesenko has apparently beaten out Francisco Elson for the backup center job.
Fesenko should get some nightly burn while Mehmet Okur (Achilles) continues his rehab. The 7-foot-1 project averaged 8.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in the preseason, showing vast improvement on the offensive end. He still has a very long way to go to be a fantasy factor.

They use this Deseret News article as a source.

There wasn't really anything in the Deseretnews article that made that claim. I won't be suprised (although slightly disappointed) at all to see Elson play more minutes than Fes tonight.

I think Elson and Fes both have their roles, just like Price and Watson both do, as well.

We'll see who gets the burn tonight; might come down to defensive assignment, might come down to the flip of a coin, might come down to who Jerry is less annoyed with.

But yeah, I hope we get another post-game of Crymelo in tears about Fesenko's vicious defense.

Maybe, just maybe, Sloan is telling the truth when he says both the Watson/Price and Fesenko/Elson decisions will be based on getting desirable matchups at the time they go into the game. I'll assume that's the case, then I'll critique if it doesn't work!
Of course we could also see BOTH members of either or both pairs together too, as Price can play SG and Elson PF... Our versatility this year is gonna be tough for teams to deal with this year!

Im completely and utterly high on Fesenko this season. If he can just keep his head up when things get tough, I think he'll have a breakout season.

No team is going to get afraid of Price and Elson's "versatility". Lets stop kidding ourselves. The key here is getting the starting unit and the newcomers to gel on ofense and to start rebounding better. We have an undersized starting frontcourt which other teams can take advantage of.
