The NBA's team tax level will be $84.7M, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Huge jump in cap and tax. Will benefit under the cap and tax teams big time. Not sure the total effect yet but it's a game changer for teams

@WojYahooNBA
Sources: Because Denver and Orlando turned out under minimum salary threshold, payout of $773K and $1.9M to those players, respectively.

@HowardBeck
More numbers from NBA memo:
Tax line: $84.74 mil
MLE: $5.464 mil
Taxpayer ML: $3.376 mil
Room ML: $2.814 mil

Does this affect the Jazz?

Could it?

I hope that if this team really looks like a contender they will be willing to go into the tax to make a run a few years from now.

I'm guessing it just means we could take on an expiring for picks as we're not getting a premier FA anytime soon.

Obviously Kanter was in the fold.

Doesn't Favors taking a 'reduced deal' to ensure the core stays together seem a bit naive now that the Caps 70 mil??

I think its fair to ask that question. Seeing as Amir Johnson (who's got busted ankles) got 2yr/24mil from the Celts

You talk like a lawyer. I respect Favors immensely for the deal he took. I wish more players would negotiate with his mindset, though I know they will not. Calling him naive for what he did (especially when it benefits the team you're cheering for) seems mean-spirited to me.

I hope this ****s GSW over post-Lee trade. Meaning they wouldn't have had to trade him for a scrub had the increase gone in sooner.

Favors' deal was done way before the expected increase was priced in by agents and FO's. Saying he was naive for taking $49 million then (when still raw and unproven) is ludicrous.

He mostly sat the bench and the GM promised to find him a new home anyways.
I still think they would have done the deal.
