Potter has aged out of being a two way player for the Jazz. They have to sign him to a regular contract or he walks. Oscar and Harkless can be signed to another two way I believe.
For trade flexibilityFor who? I’m a big fan of building top-down, and if they can afford to add someone who makes the team better - I’m all for that. . . although I would prefer to look at those options more next year. This season should still be focused on asset accumulation, not consolidation.
Doesn’t he just have perpetual team options on a minimum contract? If so, I’m pretty sure they could just choose to waive him as needed but that the team is locked into the (rather small) cap hit for the current season.Tonje can be put on a 2 way.
The Jazz may need the open roster space more than Juzang
Roster reminds me of the 22-23 season. The dilemma the Jazz face is what do they do with Juzang, Martin, Springer, and Svi. Also what do they do with Potter, Oscar and Harkless. Then of course what happens to Clarkson, Sexton, Collins and Lauri and what do they get coming back. A bunch of decisions to be made.
Doesn't have any holes? He is an awful defender. Waived him. It's 2.8 million per year. In return you get a player who is good off the bench, does not have obvious holes in his game and knows all the Jazz plays extremely well. Oh, and by all accounts he gets along great with coaches and other players and wants to be here.
Can you find a markedly better player for 2.7 million? Guys like Juzang and Niang are valuable.

I liked Juzang but Jazz must have someone else they are interested in
Its more about trad flexibilityIf this is a decision between keeping Juzang or signing a FA guard I’m keeping juzang. Goal 20 wins
Why is Tonje a better prospect to play that same role though? Why do we need to open a path for the 53rd pick?Waiving Juzang opens more of a path for Tonje to play a similar role.
Interesting. I know too little about roster construction/salaries/etc. you clearly have a grasp with juzang now gonezoIts more about trad flexibility
