Should we trade for Terrence Jones?

I think Mack has played his last game in Utah. Just a matter of the best player or asset we can get in return. Jones is my #1 as of now.

Can someone explain to me what Jones is good at and how that fits on our team?

Keep in mind Quin really wants a PF who can play at the 3pt line.

8M this year. 8M next.

A PF who can actually hit a 3. We all know how often our offense ends with Lyles or Diaw with a wide open look. Those would either be much better shots with Tolliver or the offense would have more room for others to make plays. just from what I've seen from Jones, admittedly not much, I dont see him as a philosophical fit with our style of play and he isnt talented enough to try and make it work.

I'd rather have Pat Patterson, but I doubt the Raptors are trying to sell a key rotation player like him even with Ibaka deal.

Also on New Orleans: I'd rather have Dante Cunningham. Good defender who can play 4 and knock down open 3's. Underrated and probably not someone they want to deal.

Jones is on a dirt cheap contract and is still only 25. Offer Mack and maybe a 2nd.

Most of AT's stats look really good. A 60.6% TS% this year including 38.9% from three (on 5.6 attempts per 36) and 56.8% from two as well as 79.2% from the line.

What I don't like though is 5.9 rebounds per 36 for a big. Or 1.8 free throw attempts per 36. Or 1.5 assists per 36. They're slightly concerning. Not overly so as his job is going to be to sit in the corner and hit the 3. But if he does nothing else well...well...I don't know. How is he defensively? What do the defensive metrics tell us?

Based on stats alone, I really like this Tolliver idea. Think about the shooters we'd have out there. Ingles, Tolliver, Hayward, Hood, Hill, Burks, Johnson, Lyles.

Side note. As I typed Hood, I wondered. Hood really feels like the key to this team. Like he's a guy we expect to play around 30 minutes a game and his A- game could mean a conference finals appearance, his C game could mean we don't make it out of the first round.

Cy, you're a douche and all but you, for the most part, really know your stuff. That's a compliment. You probably know the players in this league better than just about anyone here and the sport in an analytical way.

Don't boost his ego.

I know we went after Tolliver in FA a year or two ago. There is definitely interest there.

No to Terence Jones and no to Tolliver. There is a reason Tolliver has been on 9 teams in 9 years. The hobbled version of Favors is better than either of those. I guess they could be okay as backups but I would rather let Lyle's develop. He is going to okay and more valuable than either of these two guys.
