Sticking with the youth movement...bringing in point guards who know system

A four team trade...if not at before the season starts at least before the trade deadline. It worries me a lot and I am sure worries a lot of other Jazzfanz to see our starting point guard struggle so badly that the back ups to him are better than him at running the offense and not saying we should start Watson or Tinsley either but to bring back some point guards who know our system and are also more of pass first mentality point guards than Devin Harris is. And those point guards are Mo Williams and Eric Maynor!

Indiana gets: Devin Harris

L.A. Clippers get: Tyler Hansbrough

Oklahoma City gets: Darren Collison and trade exception (TPE) from Deron Williams trade which is 1.5 mil of the 1.8 mil of the exception for Maynor

Utah gets: Mo Williams and Eric Maynor

WHY?

Indiana: Gets a quality starting point guard that they wanted to trade for when he was with New Jersey in Devin Harris.

L.A. Clippers: Rid themselves of the long jam at the point guard position and get a third big to solidify their rotation in the process.

Oklahoma City: Collison is a great back up point maybe a little smaller compared to Maynor but it's not like he will see much time behind Westbrook anyways.

Utah: Bring in two point guards to run our offense and are familiar with it, and both of them can also shoot the three very well which we lost with Okur trade. I figure keep both of them around for the near future and if Maynor out plays Williams then don't bring back Williams or start Maynor and have Williams back him up but while Williams is still in his prime then start him until Maynor is ready to win the job from Williams, but in the process we run our offense better and get the ball to players in the right scoring positions. With Watson let him be our 3rd point guard and cut Tinsley.

Maynor is not a starting NBA PG and as a back-up Watson is better.

Harris to Williams is a lateral move - nothing but shuffling the pieces around..

I would do this.. Mo could get some of his minutes at the 2, and I would love having Maynor back. But I don't see Indiana letting go of Collison AND Hansbrough for Harris.

Its not a matter if these guys are better than Harris, but in this system they were successful and know how to run the offense, Williams will be an upgrade there just by his knowledge of the little things in the offense of where the best scoring options are at every spot in the offense, and to add that Williams is a pretty damn good three point threat which we need with the departure of Memo. Maynor would be a terrific starting point guard if given the minutes!

I think Harris is in an identity crisis. I think he tried to be something he wasn't today, a more controlled PG. He actually did a fair job passing the ball, racking up 6 assist in 25 minutes of play, which is impressive considering how lousy we shot the ball. He seemed hesitant to attack the rim though, which I hate. I want to see Devin be Devin.

The problem with guys like Harris is they make an all-star game early in their career and then really don't get any better (i.e. AK, Memo). Once they make the all-star team everyone thinks they are better than they really are. Harris is who he is and he is a bad fit with the Jazz especially when he walks the ball up the court.

Now don't get me wrong Harris has some talent but I think he fits better in a Mavs type team. However, his game has a lot of holes in it and that is why he keeps getting traded. The Jazz are going to need a upgrade at PG in order to get the other guys involved. Man it is too bad that the Jazz didn't suck bad enough to get Rubio. That kid can pass the heck out of the ball. Sorry, I was dreaming there for a second.

I agree that Maynor is a backup and Mo is more of a shooting guard trapped in a PG's body. Right now Harris is our PG. Isn't his contract up this year? I hope so because then he definitely is a trading card. I am too lazy to look up his contract length.

Couldn't agree more. He looked and played like he was not exactly sure what to do. He needs to play his game.

BTW, I hear/read all this talk about the Jazz offense or the Jazz system...are we even sure they know what the system/offense is? It seems like everyone on this message board knows more about the Jazz system/offense than the players do. What exactly is "our" offense or system?

I watched some T-Wolves yesterday...Rubio has some skills for sure. I enjoyed watching him control the game for the most part. Something Harris doesn't seem to do well.

Indiana leaves Collison and Hansbrough and gets Harris?
Harris isn't that valuable anymore

...how can you bring in point guards that know our "system".....when WE don't even know our system??? We don't have a system anymore! Our system is 5 guys running around like chickens with there heads cut off! Or put another way, our half court system is: "Put it up....I got bounds!"

I would not see them trading either one of them for Harris much less both. Indiana would obviously have to get more.
