Team Defense Watch

I remember the DWill era. It was a good team, and potent offense, but if we were losing be 2-4 points in crunch time, it was so frustrating because those teams just didn't get enough stops to win the close games they were losing.

This is so refreshing, I love this team.

We're the league's best defense when healthy; and Rudy is the best defender in the NBA. I honestly don't care that he missed 20+ games--this man deserves DPOY.

I honestly feel that his absence illustrates just how potent his defense is. Look at the Jazz without him, then look at them with him. End of story. He is the DPOY.

This team can play 48 minutes without a single soft spot in the defense and I don't think I've ever seen that anywhere. Just look at the numbers for March (the first full month without Hood/JJ and with Crowder), totally insane.

I love this team.

I was just thinking about this the other day - this is the first legit tough team The Jazz have produced since the Stockton/Malone era.

DWill in his prime was heady (Millsap too) but the those teams were fake tough - especially mentally. In fact the toughest guy on the team was the coach.

I wouldn't even call them fake tough. I really enjoyed those years but they drove me up the wall.

We’re 16th in offensive efficiency. The only playoff type teams below us are Boston, the Spurs and Miami.

We need to be better here.

The funny thing is that we remember those teams being bad defensively, but they were typically the the top half of the league in defensive rating.

How does December/January compare to February/March? Hard to look at overall numbers without acknowledging that this season has been dramatically different when Rudy is healthy.
