Ok, let's tackle this. Keaton is LIGHT years better than Hill. For you to mention the two together is a joke. Ridiculous. Keaton has a freaking 79% completion percentage. SEVENTY NINE PERCENT. Keaton is better than Hill yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever.
Hill has the better supporting cast? Are you kidding? Give me a break. You obviously haven't seen Utah State play. Utah State has the better QB, OL, TE, and I'd take their WR's over yours. Hoffman is a beast, but if I have to take the rest of BYU's guys including butterfingers/alligator arms Apo and the rest of the munchkins...I'd pass. RB is the only position that BYU is better than Utah State. That's it.
First of all, how is it that every single BYU fan has already forgotten about the Virginia game? Virginia took away the QB run side of the option, Williams had a ton of carries and BYU lost. To a team with a much worse defense than Utah's, and much worse offense than Utah's.
Now, I know you guys think your OL is all world now, but Utah does all right when it comes to the DL. They actually turn their talent into millionaires, while BYU turns their big uglies into...normal fat people. I guarantee you Reilly and Orchard won't dive in on Williams on every single play, forgetting about Hill. Also, I know you think Texas's DT's are obviously better than Utah's, but Utah has more DT's in the NFL making a lot more money than Texas does. And Tenny is another future millionaire. He is better than what BYU saw with Texas.
Ummm...more proof you don't know what you are talking about. Utah has had one good linebacker once. Don't worry about the LB'ers this weekend. What BYU fan needs to pay attention to is Utah's pass coverage. If Utah can slow down OSU's passing game, even just a tiny bit, BYU should be worried. If Utah feels like they can put their corners out on islands, then that allows Utah to bring the safeties and LB'ers up in the box and attack Hill and Williams (if you want to see an example of this, go see the Virginia game. Virginia attacked Hill on the option play, and he gave it up to Williams). If Utah doesn't feel like they can leave the corners out on islands, then they have to commit the safeties to help on the passing game and it could open it up for BYU in the option game.
If you watch the Utah game, watch their corners and Utah's passing game. If Wilson goes off again and maintains his position as a top 10 statistical QB in the nation, and the CB's hold their own against OSU, get worried. If Wilson struggles and the Utes CB's struggle, then continue your chest pounding.
Utah State wouldn't have beat Texas. Hill is a better runner than Keaton, but Keaton is a far better passer. Hill is faster and has more stamina. Also the difference in RB is massive. Both Hill and Williams got to the corner EVERY TIME they tried against Texas. That is just flat out athleticism. Texas is fast, but Williams and Hill were faster, at least on that night. I guarantee that they are faster than Utah on Defense. As far as the WR receiver comparison between BYU and Utah St. you can go ahead and take Utah St.'s receivers, but I think Utah's D made them look better than they were.
As far as the Virginia game goes, weather and field condition had a lot to do with that. That field was sloppy crap. Also there was a lot of first game issues. DO you honestly believe that if BYU played Virginia next week the result would be the same? I don't even think Utah would struggle as much with Utah St. if they played that game again. There is a reason the big boys schedule patsies for opening day.
Are any of your millionaire DT's suiting up in two weeks? I agree that Utah's D line is a strength, but you are not all-world and you are slower than Texas. Anae's blocking scheme at Arizona last year seemed to have you figured out and that was WITH Star in the middle. I think the corner will be open for Williams and Hill again.
I know Utah doesn't send linebackers to the NFL, but Utah was always at least solid here. Now it appears to be a tremendous weakness.
Also, no matter how the OSU game goes, Utah would be foolish to not commit their safeties to the run game until Hoffman beats them multiple times. I don't think the Utes have the luxury of defending BYU's run game straight up.
Also, I think Utah will struggle against the BYU Defense. I just don't see BYU respecting the Ute run game at all, so those bubble screens better be effective.
Finally, I don't want to come across as adversarial. I like to talk about sports, but I hate the summer lull between basketball and football. Getting actual games (not summer league) to talk about is like crack cocaine for me.
