The babadook

I have wanted to see this one. I understand it is pure psychological terror as opposed to shock and violence. I much prefer horror movies like that.

It wasn't bad, a bit overhyped imo though.

This trailer looks scary as **** though.

It's not that kind of horror movie.

It certainly is meant to be terrifying - William Friedkin, the director of The Exorcist, used that exact term.

“I’ve never seen a more terrifying film than THE BABADOOK. It will scare the hell out of you as it did me.”

I just happen to disagree. Thought it was a good effort and had some originality but as the original post that I responded to said - a bit overhyped.

Well, I guess what you mean by terrifying. I thought you meant like jump scare.

I think psychology it is a pretty terrifying film.

I'm confused, do you grown *** men, find ANY movie terrifying?

Just finished watching it. First hour was good. Nice dark atmosphere, depressing single mom with troubled kid plot, creepy if cliche haunting, etc. But the last 30 minutes were quite comical. The Home Alone-like parts were specially hilarious. I'll give them the ending though. Super weird and totally random. Really didn't see that coming.

Pacific Rim is probably one of the most terrifying movie I've seen for quite some time. Those Kaiju were just so life-like and when it bit off the head of one of the Jaegers right at the beginning and killing off one of the drivers... wow that was terrifying.

I thought you had stopped trolling?

I'm not trolling, have you seen the movie?

Yeah, I watched it with my kid. We all thought it was allright. Pretty sure none of us had a hard time sleeping that night.

We're all pretty good at separating fantasy from reality though #thatatheistlife

Yeah well when I watch a movie I like to really get into it.. That's why I have a 65 inch LCD screen with full home theatre sound system installed in the living room. I usually turn all the lights off and turn the volume right up, that way I can really get into the movie properly.

I've watched Pacific Rim twice now with that set up and every single time that scene at the beginning really terrified me... that shark head kaiju is just so brutal... that scene at the Hong Kong Habour is also pretty terrifying.. the way Crimson Typhone was dispatched is still stuck in my mind.

When I watched the director's interview he said he wanted to make the Kaiju as life like as possible, hence modelling them off of actual animals, and I think that has really worked. I never was terrified by those Transformers movies, but with this, the combination of the Kaiju being life like and humans having to actually drive the Jaegers manually really made it a lot more real for me.

^^ I would literally punch you in the face if I could get away with it.
