The "Don't Draft Chris Singleton" Thread

Your writing off Aminu after one year?

Not exactly. But he's what I thought he would be. A guy who wouldn't translate to the pros right out of college. A guy who looks like a bust after year 1. A guy who the Clips would like to undraft. He is what Singleton is -- a fantastic athlete who isn't a very good basketball player that teams hope will become one.

Singleton is considered a better defender though, which will help him see more floor time. Aminu was considered more of a versatile defender than an actually good defender.

I haven't read all of this thread...but if any of you actually saw the Jazz's defense last season, I don't why the hell any of you would be against drafting Singleton at #12 in a very weak draft. I am, quite frankly, sick of the o'lay defense. Nearly every aspect last season of it was horrible. Pick-and-roll defense, transition D, and rebounding were all horrible. Why would drafting the best defensive player in the draft be a bad thing? He would improve all of those things. Jimmer or Burks may be more exciting, but you need defense to win games too. Jazz don't have any of it right now. Anything he adds on offense is extra (which was really limited by Florida St's offense, so I think it's better than a lot of people think). And for the record, I like Jimmer and Burks as well. I just don't understand the anti-Singleton sentiment at all.

Singleton has bombed so badly in his play for teams leading up to the draft, that Draft Express now has him going at 9th. That should make some of you happy.
