What's new

The Jazz finished the preseason leading the NBA in 3PT shooting percentage (42.9%)

Absolutely. He can make them, but we don't want him to fill the chucker void C.J. left behind.

CJ wasn't really a chucker--he shot open jumpers so horribly that he earned the nick in the worst way possible.

Man, such a big agree with JJAS re: PnR with Burks and Favors. If I were on the coaching staff I'd bring in Stockton and Malone for a week of two-on-two and have them drill the **** out of that play.

Burks can't dribble well enough.

I'd still play Carroll 10 mpg, at least for the regular season. Guy brings good defense and looks like he improved his offensive game over the off-season.

This. Carroll is awkward as anyone in the league & he still finds ways to get it done on both ends of the court.

And a Chrimmuh card for Fog & JJAS:

Funny that you mention marvin, mo, foye, and murphy but not burks.

Burks is the biggest reason that we were #1.... didn't he shoot around 70% from 3?
He was talking about how KOC addressed a weakness with the trades and signings. Burks was already on the team. He was listing the newcomers brought in to make us better.

I get what your saying, and I feel Carroll can be a good role-player for the jazz, but I think it's better to tighten up the rotation. Last year at times we were playing an 11 man rotation, and at times I felt it killed the flow of the game for the players. For example, during this stretch Hayward would come out of the ga eat about the 8 or 9 minute mark, and then not come back in till the 2 or 3 minute mark in the 2end quarter, then sits for another 15 minutes till the end of the half. I'm not going to say this is why it took Hayward so long to well but it could've been a contributing factor. I don't want Marv and Hayward's minutes cut so the jazz can play an inferior talent. I feel Carroll should only enter when the jazz are getting killed early, and playing lack-luster ball.

It was definitely a preseason to remember.
Transition, Defense, 3pt shots, no C.J. or Braille.

Good times.

This should be the most enjoyable season we've had in a loooong time.

Alec Burks can't dribble well enough to practice the PnR. We talkin about practice. Nope.

Burks was on our team last year - the other guys are new; so to say KOC addressed the poor 3-pt. shooting this year by adding Burks would be inaccurate....

Also, I like Carroll - he's a spark-plug. His play in the final game against SA was super impressive, and he seems to have worked on his ball-control. He's one of those guys who isn't a great shooter, but his hustle and attitude make him a contributor. I agree - when the Jazz are playing with no energy is a good time to see Carroll.

We did not add Burks correct but if he continues to shoot well from 3 pt land that also address the need we had/have at the long ball.

I also really like some of the things carroll brings. If he would quit shooting so much he would be a huge asset for us off the bench. He is a HUGE reason we get out and running on that second unit. He plays his *** off and gets a lot of deflections.

All the same reasons I liked Price but Price is not a regular rotation NBA player, and the same can be said of Carroll.

Yep I like Carroll and am glad he is on the team but I was thinking use him a bit like Price was used (but a bit more since there is no superstar in front of Carroll) when the team needs energy/spark or if Burks, Hayward or Williams aren't getting it done for whatever reason on any given night then get a little extra time (or foul trouble or injury).

Basically in my head I'm imagining Hayward, Williams and Burks as the 3 man rotation for the SG/SF spot mixing in Foye and a sprinkle of Carroll.

All this.

Carrol is exactly the kind of guy I want deep in my rotation. Hustle, heart and he wont stop.

He was already on the team.... KOC had drafted him a year prior.... not something addressed this year.... should I go on?!!!!

Yes but if you take burks shooting out of the equation and only use the new guys numbers then we probably are no longer number 1 in this stat.

^^^^ actually forget the post above.

If you take out hayward and burks and only use the 3pt percentages of the new players then the percentage actually goes up to 44%
