there was a really touching photo in the Chicago paper on Friday of Sloan wiping a tear, but I can't find it to post, the online version of the article it was with uses a different photo
Somehow, I don't think this is easier for Jerry than for the fans, but it'd be nice if that were the case.

He looked relieved and at peace after his press conference while he was doing all the one on one interviews and stuff. It made me feel a lot better about the whole situation, even though we till have no idea what exactly happened.
I don't know about that, but if you're really saying there are more rumors and speculation than necessary then I fully agree. There wasn't a whole lot of respect given to the organization, Sloan, and the team from second one. Everyone had an opinion of what happened, and nothing KOC, Greg, Gail, Sloan, or anyone else could say was going to be true.
that's true, he did. but I think part of that was just the idea of having made the decision and so that part was behind him. I think actually adjusting to retirement will present additional challenges and will be more difficult.
I also think the sooner everyone can accept the idea that we will never know what exactly happened, because it's too complex to explain and the idea that something "happened" is a false one anyhow, the better it will be for him and the franchise.
I think it was a lot of things, including some things that we don't know anything about, or haven't talked about, and maybe it's not really any of our business. He summed it up by saying that he didn't feel he had the energy level he used to, and he decided it was his time, which is a perfectly acceptable conclusion. If he wanted to express criticism or blame on anyone else for anything, he could have chosen to do that.
We all share a sadness to some degree that we don't all stay young forever. Also, an era of a team many of us found inspiration from and identified with may feel like it is fading away. I totally believe Sloan when he says he feels he's been blessed. Some eyes in the press conference looked a little teary, in thankfulness for the good memories, and the recognition that not all good things last forever.
