The Spurs way

The Deseret News was commenting on the no-names coming off the Spurs bench last night and scoring in double figures. Their comment was "where to they get these guys." I think the new GM is going about his business and looking for those type of guys. After the tank they will bring 3 solid players in and surround them with "those guys" and then look out NBA.

Agree completely. You try to acquire star players, but aside from that. . . the best approach is to scout, study and scheme to build the absolute best 15 man roster that you can. DL seems to be a guy who does a great job of finding "those guys". Now he just needs a top-level coach like Pop who know what to do with them after they're acquired.

The Spurs bench never impresses me against starting lineups. It's easy for Patty Mills type 3-point shooters too look great when you have Tim n Tony creating wide open corner shots.

This reminds me, who suggested trading Hayward for Dragic? BTP? Dragic is legit and that's a solid swap if you want to create that Spurs type of offense.

Yep. I think Dragic is for real. Like 50% of Plumlees production is Dragic dishing Nash'esque to create a can't miss situation. I think Dragic is their best player, he's a lefty and the only place on the court where he can't score is right wing(wing not corner) threes. I think Dragic's ability to push the ball is the best way to play high in high altitude, he's clutch (I didn't check his crunchtime numbers so I may be wrong - I just have his game winners in mind) he's unselfish and his more early offense/transition based style is a better fit for Utah than Burke's half court Pick and Roll and Step back game. I love what Burke is doing so far, even though he's in an advantageous position right now and his production might sink similar to MCW's after the first games(Most teams haven't really started respecting the Jazz, he started 20 games later if you include preseason, so there's little to no NBA footage that helps them adjust defensively, fresher legs)

it is NOT the players.

IT IS THE SYSTEM.
sloan had that too. make crappy players LOOK great.

so if jazz are looking for players like that. godo luck. cus the system makes those kinda players.

crobain has no system.
so jazz will never ever ever ever ever find a player like that

hope this is just a journalist his opinion. cus if this is the opinion of jazz front offfice jazz will suck for years to come

After setting the high pick, Plumlee dives to that low baseline blindspot that centers usually occupy when the forward sets the high pick. Dragic has gotten so good at keeping dribble that Plumlee doesn't even regard what's going on and mindlessly falls into position like a British soldier during the revolution. It takes a damn good ball handler to give the defense that weakness while turning it into a strength.

I can't call Dragic an all star because the position is so strong, but it's hard to argue against the kid leading a rag tag squad to 14-9 in the West. I'm also not ragging on Trey or selling his future short, but there's a strong chance this team makes the playoffs if Trey and Dragic were swapped at the start of the season.

If I could get Dragic then I wouldn't hesitate to trade Trey. Goran's contract is the best contract in the league outside maybe Steph Curry's. & I might like Dragic even more than Steph.
