Trade for Ingram Right Now

LA traded Russell to dump Mozgov. Deng is older and more expensive than Mozgov.

The Pacers wont take Deng. They have made that clear. So the Pacers dont have the leverage to demand Ingram.

We say right now - Ingram and Deng for Favors and #30.

LA can trade #30, #27, Clarkson and Randle for PG.

We get a #2 player in the draft on a long term rookie deal and a solid bench 3/4 in Deng.

PG Hill, Exum
SG Hayward, Burks
SF Ingram, JoeJ, Deng
PF vet free agent, Lyles, Bolomboy
C Gobert

Aim for a title challenge in 2019.

I would take Ingram and Deng for Favors and #30. I would be surprised if Lakers would offer that. I think they really like Ingram or are hoping to use him to net another star to pair up with what they hope to have next year: PG and Lebron.

That Deng contact is scary though.

But I think Jazz should wait on this deal for bigger deals. There is no rush on this at least until the draft. I am not sure this deal helps convince Hayward to stay either.

The Lakers aren't trading Ingram. They've made that clear. They only traded DLo because they are drafting Ball.

That Deng contract sucks, but we dont get guys like Ingram in Utah. He's a unicorn for us. His upside dwarfs Hayward no offense to Hayward. The kid could grow with Gobert and Exum and Hood even if Hayward leaves.

LA wants to keep Ingram, but consider this - how else do they unload Deng? With Deng making 20% of the cap, they are limited in what they can add. And if they got LBJ and George, does Ingram come off the bench? LBJ to PF? Is Ingram going to grow enough this next season to secure a spot or will LBJ want a more established player considering Ball will be so young too?

LA has to dump Deng. Has to. They just traded Russell for an expiring just to dump Mozgov.

If they wanted to dump Deng, they could just trade Deng/Ingram to Brooklyn, like they just did. They dont want to.

Favors, #30 and #24 for Ingram and Deng.

Both teams make the playoffs. LA has a chance to add LBJ and another big get to join Ball and George in 2018. Crazy for LA and us.

I think they like Ingram a lot more than they liked Russell. But I guess if they are willing to trade the Jazz should jump in. My guess is that if they trade him it will be for an all-star player. Teams deciding to tank will take on contracts like Dengs to get young star potential players. They also have time, they dont need to clear space until next off season. Dengs deal will be 1 year less horrendous next year.

If this is an option you do it... Deng is not useless... would play some minutes as small ball 4 and I love Ingram.

That said... zero chance of happening. Indiana would just trade PG for Deng and Ingram if it were. They'd be completely dumb not to.

Three way trade:

Indy gets Diaw, Clarkson, #24, #27, #30
LA gets Favors and George
Jazz get Ingram and Deng

Win, Win, Win

I would be happy with that trade. I am not sure why Indiana would not just cut out the Jazz and take one less late round pick and get Ingram though. I am sure they wont mind Dengs contract while rebuilding. By the time it is an issue for them it will be expiring or gone.

Edit: Also all reports are that Lakers really like Ingram and are not willing to part with him. They already said they wont trade their #2 pick or Ingrom for PG.

I do like the ideas being thrown out though. I really want Jazz to make a move but I am nervous they wont and we will hear crap about nothing good was out there.

I continue to see 0 reason why they trade Ingram.
Of course you don't. Wasn't your idea.

Reasons why LA would trade Ingram:

- Dump Deng. Easier said than done. Ingram is a B+ or A- trade chip. Deng is an F. Ingram's value takes a huge dip if packaging with Deng. Indy doesnt want Deng. They want a starter, expirings and mulitple picks. They just traded a guy with tons of potential for an overpaid expiring big and #27. Favors and two picks is a much better deal.

- George. He is priority #1. Gotta get him now to assure you have him long term. He is the foundation before anyone else.

- Ball. LA really wants him. He is their PG of the future. Like Ingram, he will need some seasoning. He is raw.

- Title contention. You only get LBJ if LA is competing for a title in 2018/19. With a 2nd year Ball, 3rd year Ingram, George and no money because of Deng, LBJ is the only significant asset LA can add in 2018. The rest would be David West vet type fillers. That team can't beat GS still in their prime with LBJ leaving his.

- Ingram - tons of potential but its not like he set the world on fire last year. LA has to send a strong message about competing right now. Ingram does not assure that.

There are reasons. This isn't completely illogical.

If they land Lebron and PG I bet he gets traded for another all-star caliber player unless he really proves his immediate worth next year. But that is obviously not this trade.

I doubt it. I dont think LA is going to do what Cleveland did and sell everything to get players around Lebron. They are trying to develop their current young players and keep as many as possible while getting George (which shouldn't be too difficult since he has openly said he very committed to going to LA).

The Lakers don't have to be clear cut contenders to get Lebron. They just have to be better than anyone else who has cap-space to outright sign Lebron.

LeBron will push hard for them to trade young players for good players. Maybe they ignore him but I think they will give in like Cleveland did for a chance to win another championship. Who knows though just guesses. I'm not so sure LeBron goes there though anyways. But if he does I would be surprised if they held on to players that aren't helping win that need development that are worth a decent amount in trade.
