What could Orlando get for Dwight that's better than this? They dump Arenas' atrocious burden, get Favors, good production from AJ, and a top 3 pick.

Howard/Millsap/Hayward/Arenas/Harris.

Better yet, swap Sap for Favors and save a few extra dollars.

This trade would actually hurt the Jazz' current rebuild dice roll potential, but you need a star in this league.
 
I'd rather have Favors and the #3 for the next 4 seasons than Dwight Howard for 1 season - quite possibly a lockout-shortened one at that. Wasn't one of the primary reasons the Jazz traded Deron because they had doubts he would resign with them?
 
Howard has next year (assuming there is one) and then a player option and then would get out of Utah so fast it would make Deron Williams head spin.

I would love Howard as much as any Jazz fan but I don't think he would stay here and giving up a bunch for him and having to deal with Arenas would be a recipe for disaster. Plus the Jazz rarely do thing with the short term in mind.

If ORL really believes Howard is gone (which he might well be) it's a decent 75 cents on the dollar trade.

This, I hope for Rivers too. He would be a nasty guard to have come off the bench, or start at PG.

Did you two want me to write a novel and include every detail? It would obviously require an extension, and yes I thought of this but excluded it to be concise. What do I have to do to get a little cred and better input?

It's interesting to see Jazz fans pass up Dwight Howard for Favors. There are plenty of reasons to pass on this deal, but it's DWIGHT FREAKING HOWARD we're talking about, not Joakim Noah or Tyson Chandler. Dwight + Millsap is a pretty solid 4-5. Fix up 2-3 and get growth from Hayward and that team could compete.

So if Howard was signed long term why would ORL trade him?

What would make you think Howard would choose to sign a longterm deal in Utah over ORL or somewhere else?

Kind of a major factor imo

I don't have Little Utah Syndrome. Every player who likes winning would want to play in SLC.
