Training Camp Scrubs

Looks like all the training camp scrubs (those guys with non-guaranteed contracts) are going to be given a bus ticket home and a John Stockton TShirt for their trouble.

For their trouble? They got invited to an NBA training camp. They should be damn thankful the Jazz deemed them worthy of an invite.

If they are getting more playing time the Burks that is a problem. I don't care how much the game might be out of reach, game experience is still game experience.

Also, Quinn may have an outside shot at making the roster if Watson isn't ready by the start of the season and the Jazz finally get rid of Braille.

Quinn looked like he had a bit of promise in the Thunder game, aka the one game I saw him in. Granted his ceiling may just be a fringe backup guy, but hey, they're needed in the league as well.

FWIW, during the radio broadcast of Saturday's game, Locke seemed very confident that Quinn will see time in the NBA this season. He's at least seen all of the preseason games so far.

Definitely not a Wes Matthews in this group.

This is where the Raja Bell things has become an embarrassment. Jazz are carrying 15 contracts into the season. Customarily they carry 14 - I think the plan was to get Earl Watson's knee into shape and then trade him. Perhaps for a second round pick or a trade exception - and replace his spot on the contract with a D-Leaguer or 10 Day player or maybe Quinn for the minimum. They are less likely to do that now with Bell in limbo - an injury or two could make this team awfully thin in a hurry.

Jeez what a cluster ****.

I just looked him up and he does have years of NBA experience. First I ever heard of the guy to be honest.

Chris Quinn has also played 3225 regular season minutes in the NBA, plus 24 more playoff minutes. He's not a D-League scrub.

He should still be thankful as hell that the Jazz gave him the chance to showcase himself a little. Maybe it will result in him getting on as a 3rd string somewhere.

I am sure he (and the other invites) are greatful for any chance they get to keep the dream alive.
