Wesley Matthews possible

It hurts to think that the one player we need is Wesley Matthews. His skillset would put this current Jazz team over the top

I'd say we package Devin Harris plus draft picks for Wesley . then roll with Watson and Tinsley at PG

do you think its even possible or would portland just laugh

Wesley Matthews is one of the leagues best deals value wise for what he is getting payed and what he does. I would think that he is way too valuable to Portland to trade right now, no way they trade him.

Portland already has the (currently much) better version of Harris in Raymond Felton.

Last year, rumors were circulating that they wanted Harris. But, then they acquired Felton. Good for them.

Matthews will be hard to pry away.

Portland is looking to contend, not draft.

Felton>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Harris.

Start talking Jefferson for Matthews and they might get interested (not that I would make such a lopsided trade). Batum can probably replace Matthews soon.

Why do so many fans think we can trade Devin away for anyone good?

Porty expecially is not going to give Mathews away.

I have seen Lakers fans on other boards saying they would like to have Harris, but who could they give us in return?

Questions...

Would you do Burks for Matthews straight up? I'm assuming about 75% of us would say yes.
Would you trade our 1st this year and Miles for Matthews?
Our 1st and Burks for Matthews?

In other words, how much would you be willing to give up?

I'd keep Burks and stop crying about the Matthews situation. Once Utah signs Wilson Chandler, moves Hayward to the 2, and Burks to the PG. We will all be like Matthews who?

Not happening.

O'Conner is going to save face on this. He would look pretty stupid trading assets for a player he just let walk. He should have been smart enough to see that he was a bargain back then. He should have dumped Ak for nothing last year so we could match Portland. That was a failure on O'Conners part.

How about Harris for Darius Morris and Derrick Caracter. A third team might need to get involved as money doesn't add up.

Have you seen the year he's having?

This couldn't have gone in the ultimate Devin Harris trade thread? Just sayin

Also no way we get Wes back unless we package some serious potential ie Favors, Kanter, GS pick, ect. And even then I don't think it happens.

/end thread

LOL... what do YOU think?

Agree. Matthews is a very good player, but he's not great. He's a complementary piece to Aldridge and Wallace. Through their first 16 games, Wes is averaging 13 pts on just under 42% FG and 36% from 3-pt range. Decent, but definitely not a top-tier shooter. I would even say he's overpaid with that kind of production. Certainly an upgrade over Raja, but we'd all be bitching if the Jazz had signed him to his current contract and he was that inconsistent through 16 games.

I really like Wes; I'm happy to see him go from an undrafted FA to starter. Loved his attitude and work ethic. But I'm happy with what Burks has shown to date. Jazz needed a guy who could drive and create his own shots. Alec can do that. Matthews had an entire training camp and almost half the season before he came in and started. It will be interesting to see where Burks is at in a couple of months.

What makes anyone think he's available? He's not a superstar but he doubles his opponents' production (holding starting SGs to a PER of 7) and is top-10 at his position at PPS (shoots a lot of threes, connects on a nice percentage, gets to the line and does all of this on and off the ball).

Seriously. That ship has sailed everyone.

Now, let's discuss how we're going to get DWill back.
That's actually a more realistic proposition (Deron being a free-agent and all and that Portland won't be trading Matthews for anyone anytime soon).
