what can brown do for u?

Lakers guard Shannon Brown has informed the team that he has elected not to exercise his option to extend his contract for the 2011-12 season, it was announced today. Brown, therefore, has become an unrestricted free agent.

Originally acquired by the Lakers from the Charlotte Bobcats in February of 2009, Brown has appeared in 182 games with the Lakers, averaging 7.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 18.7 minutes.

A two-time NBA Champion with the Lakers, Brown averaged a career-high 8.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists during the 2010-11 season.

I would think that this would really hurt the Lakers. The only athlete they had on their team... Is going to jump ship.

I think it's time to hit the panic button in LA. They gotta hope to get Dwight Howard.

I like Shannon Brown a lot. But I doubt he'll want to come to lil old Utah to play basically the same off the bench role. He probably wants to be a starter in a good market with a big contract.

I'd take Brown over Price. They are similar players but Brown has better size and can play both guard spots, especially if Burks or Hayward can play that point-forward role.

If he'd come here for < $$ than AK wants, I'd be tempted. Assuming we give Millsap more SF minutes, AND Burks can play PG as well as SG, we might not need to re-sign Watson either. Could be a good leverage point for KOC in negotiations...
