What's new

What ever happened to Hayward coming off the bench?

I'm curious about the evolving Burks-Hay chemistry. If Burks can penetrate, draw Hay's defender, and kick out for a catch-and-shoot 3.... that'd be nice.

The only hesitation I have in saying Hay should start is that it leaves the starting lineup without a driver.

Lets not forget this is still preseason. Burks is playing against starters who aren't trying as hard and backups who aren't NBA players. Lets see how he does when the competition ramps up in a couple weeks.

That being said, his improvement is very promising.

Hayward will start for the simple reason that Burks makes the wrong decisions on D consistently. That and he is a better overall player than Burks right now.

Hayward should start period, but since our PG is not known for being a great facilitator, having Hayward in the 1st unit is even more important.

The way Hayward facilitates "scares" me. Is he ever going to learn to do anything beyond his incredible first step besides panic?

He needs to sit his *** on the bench and watch how Marvin Williams gets it done.

I heard at RC Willey, Hayward is ADD and can't sit for very long before he starts to annoy the coaches and other players.
This is why he starts, oh... and the team is better when he is on the floor at the 2.

I like having him at the 2 and Starvin Marvin at the 3.

I don't know if they have played this lineup, but I would think it would be a good one.
Mo-vin, Hay-vin, Mar-vin, Sap-vin, and Fav-vin.

In theory that lineup would be nice defensively.

I still think someone not named Kanter or Favors has to be dealt. Millsap or Jefferson, take your pick.

So I guess not one person remembers Hayward coming off the bench last year

I remember it just fine. It got him going a little bit. But after he was put back in the starting lineup due to injuries to Howard and Bell he went for 16 PPG from then until the end of the season as a starter.
