When does the Harpring TPE expire?

Does anybody know? I'd love to use it to steal a good 2-guard from another team that is going into a rebuilding mode. I know Raja and CJ are good players that help us win, but a legit scorer would be nice to compliment these guys as a 1-year rental.

D Will is a top PG. Millsap and Al Jeff are two solid (although not dominant) PF/Cs good for 18/9 or 20/10. Memo, Fess and Elson will give us some depth and versatility in the front court. However, our wing rotation of AK, Miles and Bell doesn't exactly scream championship contender to me (especially Bell). I'm not sure if we can improve this, but it would sure be nice to. Someone mentioned it in another thread, but it does make sense for the Sixers to trade Iguodala at some point. I'm not sure who else is out there. SJax may not really be worth the trouble.

Since all our 13 contracts are guaranteed, we'd need to find someone willing to take a player who we'd be willing to trade. Makes it kinda tough... Plus, as we now know, it takes time to learn the Jazz system in order to become a major contributor...

I think the better question, at least for myself, is can this TPE be traded? Because let's face it, there's not a chance in hell given our current cap number that the Millers are taking on more salary in a trade without giving some/more back, not using some damn TPE.

TPE's are most often used as a minor piece in a trade, but still are a nice 'chip' (or 'asset, as KoC likes to say) in trade proposals. From a salary point of view, I'd say AK and Memo are the most likely guys to get traded. DWill is untouchable, as I suspect Millsap and Jefferson are too.
Hey, how about Memo for Wes Matthews? That would be intriguing... If Fes shows he can play 15-20 minutes consistantly, I'd be tempted, and I think Portland might be too...

I don't see the Jazz taking on more salary.

Perhaps they can trade it for a second round pick.

I certainly feel that if Memo can come back healthy he might be the main luxury tax lessener this year, but would Portland and Utah really trade with each other? What about the Knicks for instance. Sure Memo is slower than D'antoni likes but a big man who can shoot the 3 is something he likes.

While I have absolutely no expectation of this happening - this would actually work. Knicks have the cap space and need serious help at the 5. The Russian dude they have now is awful and Amare is more comfortable at the 4.

Maybe The Knicks can give us another conditional draft pick that we can fawn over for another 5 years. I miss those days.

KOC will be this year's GM of the year if he can put together out another magic using the TPE and ending up with a good "making guard".

But he will be a Jazz God if using TPE + something to get back Wesley Matthews :)
