The Jazz have depth at every position now, except for the shooting guard spot. Burks and Hayward are really the only "twos" on the roster, as Bell will most likley be waived or traded by opening day and Hayward is a 2/3. The next move the Jazz make this off-season is probably for an athletic two-guard that can shoot and defend. So, with the full mid-level exception or part of it to use to sign the players, which shooting guard would you choose and why?

(Out of the ones I listed below, I think the only full MLE player is Mayo, but I think he will get more going to the Suns or NOH depending on Eric Gordon; The rest are partial MLE guys and realistic gets).

None. You don't need to be 3-deep at every position (5 roster positions and a 13-player minimum). Hayward, Burks, possibly Murphy. Adding a veteran 2 creates a similar logjam to the one we had last year where Burks couldn't get on the floor.

This guy gets it.

I would want Ray Allen here, but that's not realistic with both Miami and LA Clippers recruiting him hard...

yeah but don't think of it position-by-position, because the wing positions are essentially the same. right now we have three quality guys in the wing rotation (hayward, marvin, burks) and two others who might be good enough to get minutes (carroll and murphy). ideally, you want a 4-man wing rotation.

hayward-marvin-burks-carroll is a decent 4-man rotation, but if you think that hayward-marvin-burks-lee would be a BETTER 4-man rotation, then you do that and you have it be the coaches' problem to figure out what exactly role everybody gets.

not that lee is my guy. he isn't, to tell you the truth, but i'm just saying you can have 4 wings playing big minutes, and if you can upgrade, you upgrade.

I think they should spend the money on a quality backup PG. Unless they believe Burks can get some burn there. I really don't like to think how bad our team will be if Mo gets hurt. Watson and Tinsley are okay backups. But really one of them should be upgraded with a younger player (preferably Watson).

Chicago is most likely going to drop Kyle Korver on Tuesday making him a UFA.

My guess is KOC offers him 3 years under the MLE.

Not advocating it - but I fully expect it.

Jazz will probably see what they have in Kevin Murphy before they pull the trigger on another SG.

he's a late second rounder and right now the 5th wing in the rotation. there's no guarantee he even makes the team, let alone stops them from making other upgrades to their roster.

So what happens if Murphy comes in and plays incredible, but Jazz don't have a roster spot for him?

if he plays his mind out, then he'll wesley matthews his way onto the team. but it's on him to do that, we're not going to plan around him. a 47th pick has to earn everything that's given to him. see: millsap, mo, etc.

He proved stats are more important to him then the team. I don't want him.

I wanted the Jazz to get someone that's Young and going to be able to grow with the core.

So I chose Sam Young despite knowing nothing about him.
I am man.

This thread is still going after this post?

And here I was thinking that the Jazz had their superstar SG in Hayward after reading some of the posts in other threads
