Whose Minutes Will Burks Get?

A guy tweeted this to Tony Jones, who replied that's up to the coach. I tweeted back: "If Joe Johnson keeps playing like crap, he's the obvious one. Jingles has been playing better than Hood, not him."

Johnson seems to play the 3/4 for us, it's tough to imagine Burks will take too many from him, and like you said Ingles is playing great. If Burks comes back playing well I'm going to guess Mack/Exum are the main lineup casualties.

Depends if he's the same player. I'd bet he's going to play a lot slower then previously. That said I see him as a backup 2 guard. Occasionally the backup point. Ingles is the backup 3 and so is Joe Johnson.

I'm reminded of this scene from the 1991 movie Mobsters when pondering this question -

before we go, let's have a toast.

Our first million dollars.

Say this bottle is bootleg business, greater New York.

This is our business when we started. (Pours a shot in a glass)

Nobody noticed us, nobody gave a ****.

Now this is our business right now. (Pours half a glass full)

It's big enough for us to have a party.

Big enough for other people to notice.

This is where we want our business to be.

But the bigger we get,

the more we're taking from other people.

He is going to have to take minutes from everyone. Ingles has already shown Quin is willing to take Hood's minutes to give to Ingles if Hood isnt playing great. I think once Burks returns, if he plays well, everyone's on the wing, besides Hayward, will probably have fluctuation.

Joe Johnson is definitely the least appealing of the group to watch play basketball, but he also has had big games where his contributions have been key.

I expect he'll get some minutes at the point as well as the two and the three. Not worried if his time on the court cuts into anybody's because his skills are/were so elite and he gives us another guy that can play multiple positions and create for himself.

With the team depth the way it is, Quinn will just play the hot hand. He did that last game letting Ingles close over Hood. I haven't heard any news on Hill but if he's out for a few games I see Kurks getting a lot of backup pg minutes.

Due to injuries, it's not like we've established a rotation pattern. Everyone's played extra minutes based on other players being absent. So one possibility is a general reduction in minutes for everyone at the 1/2/3 positions rather than one player losing all his minutes.

there's enough minutes available atm up to his minutes limitation. I'm guessing he'll have to show he's going to be a net + before he gets major minutes which i'm not sure he's done in the past ?

Burks I'm sure has been working hard on his game.

I'll go out on a limb to say he flips the switch and becomes one of our best scorers.

I really want to see some Burks/Gobert pick and roll, I'm not sure Burks has ever had the benefit of playing with a guy who sets such good screens like Gobert is doing this year. I know him and Kanter used to have a pretty sweet baseline handoff play, but that's as much as I can remember.
