Why I think Ty Corbin sucks as a coach

Ok, Since franklin and other moron posters think that the only reason people want Ty gone is because he is black, I thought I would post on here why I don't want Ty as a coach. It's late on a Sunday night, I just got back in from town, and I am literally going to time how long this takes, just so franklin and other dumbass posters know I literally put NO time into this at all. OK, timer is ready, here we go.

It all started when Ty decided to play the big three together (Millsap, Favors, Al). He did it to finish the season. It worked out pretty well. So, Ty didn't go back to it until we were 3/4ths the way through the next year.

Foye starting over Hayward and Burks.

Marvin Williams starting over Hayward and Burks.

Bell starting over Hayward and Burks.

Josh Howard getting hurt, the Jazz going on a run, then putting Howard back in the lineup, killing all momentum

The ATL 4 OT game where Favors didn't play until the 4th OT.

The fact that 3 of our starting 5 went GAMES without scoring a point

Tinsley had a stretch where we went something like 12-4 or some crazy good stretch. Then, for no reason, he benches Tinsley for Watson, and go on a losing streak.

Al Jefferson
Al Jefferson

Continually watching our starting 5 get worked in the first and third quarters, inserting the "scrubs" having them get us up 5, then putting Al back in the game with 4 mins to go and watching us lose the game.

Not playing Burks for 1/2 the season, and ONLY going to him because Watson and Tinsley were hurt

changing the defensive scheme (Sloan pushed players to the baseline (extra "defender")) while Corbin pushed players to the middle...just for Al to pat them on the back as they layed the ball up.

Terrible defensive rotations.

Terrible defensive pick and roll

Haywards minutes GOING DOWN THIS YEAR

Kanter getting a 20/20...then getting benched

OK, I've hit 4 mins and 30 seconds and I'm sick of this. I'm going to put my kid to bed because he is driving me crazy.

Take your racists ******** and shove it up your ***. Grow up.

I'll add:

- Favors getting 23/15 after just three quarters, then being benched for the entire 4th AND overtime

- waiting till game 4 to start Favors in the series vs San Antonio

I'm prejudice against incompetent people. Which is why I can't stand seeing Ty Corbin and Greg Miller affiliated with the Jazz.

Good post, mr green, although there is one factional error: Sloan's defense was designed to push players to the middle. It worked when he had Eaton and if/when Ostertag decided to give some effort. Ty changed the defense to push players baseline. But without also working on rotations and holding players like Jefferson and Millsap accountable, it doesn't matter what kind of defensive scheme is used. I could highlight so many of your points as the reasons I think Corbin is incompetent. I think it was absolutely hilarious when Kanter had his 20/20, then could barely get on the court. And then Favors is well on his way to doing the same and Corbin benches him for the entire 4th quarter.

To your list I would add Corbin's inability to make any in-game adjustments. He simply could not exploit nor counter any match-ups, despite having a very flexible roster. AS mentioned, Corbin COULD have gone big with Millsap at SF, or gone very small with Favors at the 5 and Marvin at the 4, or any combination in between depending on what the other team was doing. But he rarely varied from the same old line-ups, even when those combinations were piling up big deficits and losses.

I'm beyond being mad at Ty at this point.

All of my anger is directed towards Jazz management for being so stubborn, cheap, and stupid and continuing with Ty when he is so obviously inept and clearly in over his head.

the funny part about that was kanter and millsap played 17 minutes non stop. they where gassed which lost us the game.
so 34 minutes for the big men and he couldnt find favors a single minute out of those 34

Damn. Are you brainwashed? Its management that needs to go. The owner can't fire himself and isn't the one controlling the team.

Or pure genius. May have been KOC's plan all along to have Corbin coach this team into the lottery, without looking like they were tanking. Now there is absolutely no PR backlash over not offering contracts to Millsap and Jefferson. And KOC can even part ways with Mo and no one will be upset. I'm telling you, the Jazz FO and coaching staff has pulled off a bigger con job than the cast of Ocean's Eleven.

Greg Miller doesn't ultimately control the destiny of the Jazz? Then who does? Was Larry's death a hoax? Please enlighten me.

Are you sure of Sloan forcing them to the middle. I thought it was baseline too? Whichever, forcing baseline doesn't provide as much help.

That is incorrect. Sloan's defense was to force middle. Corbin changed it to force baseline because by forcing baseline it traps the ball on one side of the floor. Making it easer to rotate because making a skip pass is hard from that angle. Sloan was one of only 2 coaches still forcing middle when he retired. The forcing middle only works if you have a great shot blocker so all of the other defenders can stay home, once the ball is in the middle the ball handler has the whole floor to work with. You have to stay on the shooters.
