Why the Kanter trade was a good one.

The addition by subtraction viewpoint is pretty much the only way to see this as a good trade. I'm not saying it was terrible, but it doesn't feel like DL hit it out of the park by any means.

We can't draw final conclusions until after the draft and free agency this summer. The Jazz obviously wanted to maintain financial flexibility and move Kanter before he gets a FA deal. OKC might have been one of the few teams willing to trade something for the right to pay Kanter in free agency.

So now Rudy gets 30+ minutes per game. I can't believe we couldn't get a rotation player back
We should have gotten Singler at the very least. When they said we were getting a first round pick I was pretty convinced it was Detroit's.. They gave up less than we did yet somehow they are the ones who got Reggie.

I hate to see him go cause I always imaged him in the group when this young core finally brings home the chip. But if anything, the biggest reason for me personally as to why this was a good trade is for some of the fans here who didn't cheer for the team but instead, did nothing but bitch about his playing time or cry when he was on the bench might be leaving soon.

It's more than we got for Paul Millsap or Al Jefferson. Think of it that way.

The Jazz bring in players. Sometimes they work out. Sometimes they don't. I'm guessing teams weren't excited to trade much for the right to overpay Kanter this summer. It's an awkward situation.
