Worried about Hayward

Ok, I know that it is only a couple of preseason games, but Hayward has looked terrible. We know he has heart, and we have seen some really good games from him, but the lockout seems to have left him quite rusty. So many people seem to think that CJ is gone after this season, but right now he looks better than hayward. Yeah, I know, CJ has the consistency of a teenager in puberty, but Hayward had better get his act together if he wants to claim a spot in the rotation.

This thread already happened. Hayward's "problem" is people forget he's 21. The few good games he had last year has everyone thinking he's Brandon Roy. The reality is he only had a few good games. He flashed a lot of potential in those games, but he still has a lot to learn. He'll be fine.

My guess on Hayward is he has a season similar to last year developmentally. He's actually ready to play in games this year, but it will take him a while to find himself as a player. I think Hayward will have his struggles early, but is going groove down the stretch again like he did last year.

1. He is fine.
2. He has been greatly over-hyped by many on this board, so what we get from him may disappoint some people.

Sorry, I don't have the time to search the entire board to discover if a post has already been made. I am genuinely worried about his play, and I like others opinions on it.

(and I really don't like this boards search engine, by the way.)

He actually looked great in the scrimmage and first preseason game.

He just got into foul trouble the last game.

Well he's not going to average 17ppg (like some people were predicting), but he should be fine. I don't expect him to be consistent till his third year.

Not saying I'm above doing it.. I do it too, but it's good to recognize when it is Okurring.

This weird season should be a blessing to guys like Gordon and Favors, guys with the experience of a rookie year behind them and young legs to keep going. They'll have to shrug off bad games really quickly and just go-go-go. Add in the trade flurries (not all of which I'm down with) and they should get lots of time. I'm curious how the short season will impact rookies. They haven't gotten used to the regular season grind and now they'll be out there without the benefit of much practice time in between games. It'll be hard to learn a system during time outs or when they're benched for missing rotations... Gordo should know what he's doing (in spite of some changes) and just need adjustments.

What you expected him to be a star in the preseason, besides I warned you he would start slow. He'll come around though.

Fan is short for fanatic, it comes with the territory, otherwise none of us would be here.

As for my expectations of him, I had hoped that he'd at least be able to keep himself on the floor.

Phil Johnson was saying on the post game show the other night that Hayward's knowledge of the offense is very advanced and he gets into trouble because he expects the other players to make the right reads in the offense. When they don't he gets stuck in bad situations.

Wow, a rational post, and one that actually helped me understand what's going on. Thanks for being a human, not a troll. As for all the 'trade him' comments, I think that we need the season to start, folks are getting a little cranky.
