They gave the Jazz a c minus. Their reasoning is that Mitchell can't shoot very well. They liked our other first round pick better.

Mitchell shot 46% from 2-pt range, which is very good for a guard.
He shot 35.4% from 3-pt range which is good -- not great, not bad -- but he also took 6.6 attempts per game, which is really a ton.
He also shot 80% from the FT line.

I wouldn't say he can't shoot. He's not Luke Kennard, but his shooting numbers are comparable to Rodney Hood.

I think a big thing on Mitchell is that he didnt start playing AAU Ball until his junior year or something because he was playing baseball in the summers until then. So he has less basketball experience than most of these prospects.

His shot improved greatly during his time in college, and there is no reason to think it can't keep improving. He is far from a hopeless case when it comes to shooting.

His D and athleticism are already there. If he has good work ethic, and our coaches can work with him then the dude could be awesome.

Of course there are a million examples of players who had no reason not to be good, but they just weren't.
