Kyle Lowry expects the Houston Rockets' backcourt to look a little different next year.

The Rockets guard told the Houston Chronicle on Friday that he does not think he and Goran Dragic will both return next season. And he is especially unlikely to play for Houston if Kevin McHale returns as coach.

"I don't think so," Lowry told the newspaper about returning to play for McHale. "I honestly think it would be tough. Things have to be addressed. The situation would have to be addressed.

"If things aren't addressed coaching-wise, I guess I have to be moved."

McHale told the Chronicle he thought their issues could be overcome.

"That's very surprising," McHale told the newspaper. "I didn't think we had too much of a problem coexisting this year. Everybody has a little beef every once in a while. I didn't feel like (there were problems). He apparently did.

"There were times that we didn't agree on things. There were times that I got on him. I don't think it was unduly harsh on anybody."

The rift between McHale and Lowry was most visible in a game in Denver in April when they argued during a timeout. McHale grabbed Lowry and pulled him back toward the huddle.

Lowry had surgery May 1 to repair a sports hernia and was expected to return to normal offseason training in six to eight weeks.

The 6-foot Lowry missed 19 games this season, mostly because of a bacterial infection. Dragic took over the starting job in March and averaged 18 points and 8.4 assists in 28 starts. Lowry averaged 14 points and 6.6 assists in 47 games for the Rockets this season.

I'd still take him. The Rocket Fans think he is worth WAY more than he is. They talk of him as though he is a superstar. If Rockets management feels the same way, he probably wont be moved.
 
To me, the problem here is that most good players in the league nowadays probably have somehwat of a 'tude. You'd probably have to eliminate half the league if you addopted a no-dickhead rule. I wouldn't rule him out just based off of this incident.

I saw the video of Rondo acting like Mr. tough guy with that reporter, and I'd still want the Jazz to pull the trigger if they had a chance to make a deal for him. I say that, even though he seems like a total dickhead. That's how desperately I think this team needs a good PG.

For me, there is an ocean between the attitude a player needs to be a killah in this league and attitudes embedded in statements like "it's me or the coach." The Jazz need more of the former, and NONE of the latter.
 
Ouch! KOC and Miller likely have zero interest in this guy now. He is basically demanding a hall of famer gets fired.
 
I was never that crazy about Lowry to begin with.

But when you got a guy who hasn't won a damn thing in his career tell his organization that it's either him or his coach; then you're probably better off without him any way.

Besides, who the **** ever heard of a black guy named Kyle.

I don't disagree completely, but I think sometimes fans are a bit quick to label a player over something like this. I also think Utah is a team that can't afford to write players off too quickly. Sometimes the only reason you get an opportunity to acquire a certain player is because of questionable behavior, or some incident that makes him avilable in the first place. Utah is a team at a disadvantage with FAs, so I believe they should be thinking outside the box when it's a question of gambling on a good player that they wouldn't have a shot at otherwise. Sure, there are guys who have a reputation and never seem to be able turn things around, but there are also plenty of players who have some incident early in their careers, and go on to have success in different situation. I don't subscribe to the idea that just because a player has a problem with one coach, it automatically means he has a problem with authority. Sometimes it boils down to nothing more than a personality conflict.

Personally, I like Lowry. But he's not a guy I want to be married to for 3 years. More desperate teams will overpay him, and we're not one of those teams.
