What's new

you know what would look good next to this defense?

A physical lead guard who can get into the paint. If getting shutdown by Rudy and Favs doesn't kill you, then getting abused immediately on the other end by a Parker/Teague/Bledsoe will.

Exum won't be that guy this year or next. Trey never will be.

It'll be interesting to see what come up on the trade block. That kind of piece would turn the tide in a lot of games.

It will be interesting to see what Lindsey does if he believes this team has taken the next step.

How long does he wait?

If Rudy, Favors and Hayward continue to play the way that they have so far, the Jazz might actually have a shot at attracting a high caliber free agent to start at either PG or SG. I don't think that Phoenix will trade him, and I don't see how the Jazz fit him under the cap next year if they decide to keep Kanter as well. . . although. . . the Warriors basically did the same type of thing to get Iggy two years ago. If the Suns can't sign him, then the Jazz could potentially look at a sign and trade type deal since they still have a ton of assets that they can use to make a big move like that.

Booker has a valuable contract (to potentially gain a trade exception) and then the Jazz might have some room to work with and assets to burn.

Imagine - Dragic, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Gobert, Exum/Burke/Neto, Draft pick/Hood/Baby Sap/Jingles, Kanter and another big to replace Booker (the golden unicorn of Ante Tomic has no contract buyout this upcoming offseason and will still only be 28 years old)

The Jazz would be a young, but extremely talented and deep team if they play their cards right.

Would be nice, but I think he's going to rise too far. I'm still hoping that the Jazz get a decent pick, but Gobert wants to win and he's leading this team into the right direction all on his own. Thankfully, Hayward and Favors are following.

Between the Jazz's improvement and Russell's improved stock, I don't think they'll get even close.

only if we traded millsap for bledsoe... ****ing clippers were too ***** those motha****as. but it's k exum will be good soon

I'm not so sure. Towns, Okafur, Mudiay, Johnson...this draft is loaded imo...even if we improve, win 30 games and get the 10th pick, we still may be able to snag him or have the assets to move up a couple spots to do so.

When I opened this, I thought it was going to be about making a max offer for Jimmy Butler. Imagine if we got him and drafted Mudiay.

Mudiay-Exum
Hayward-Burks
Butler-Hood
Favors-Booker
Gobert-Kanter

Scoring would be hard? Is Mudiay mediocre offensively? Because Hayward has shown as the #1 option he can get us 19 consistently. Butler is scoring 20+ this year. Favors looks like he'll be a consistent 16+ point scorer.

Add in Kanter and Burks off the bench and I see plenty of points there. We don't need guys who can get 30 on any given night necessarily.

That team would be awesome

Just to add to this post...... I'm surprisingly starting to believe that Hayward can be a star player and even a number one option (so long as the 2nd and 3rd options are decent)

Hayward is attacking much better than I thought he would (probably as good or better than burks did when he was rolling last year) and he is so confident on his jumpers.
His mid range game is on point and the three ball will drop at an even higher clip eventually (I think). Still setting up teammates really well too.

When this season started I didn't think we had any alpha dog star players. Now it's looking to me like we have 2 of them.

Add in a very good favors, plus Burks, booker, and a more experienced hood and exum, plus kanter or someone else aquired in a trade. I think we fight for the playoffs as soon as next year. (And make it)

It's only possible with floor spacing. With Gobert and Favors playing together, a guy like Teague, Parker, Bledsoe would not be able to do what they do.
One of the reasons Burks wasn't effective is because we lost Marvin to stretch the floor.

Splitter and Duncan dont spread the floor.
