What's new

Message to Matthews lovers

I drove almost 900 miles to three Jazz games last week and you morons have the NERVE to call me anything other than a Jazz fan? Get real.

Wow neurotic much? No one on this thread called you anything of the sort. On other threads sure, but why create a thread specifically to show your level of fan-ness and how it compares to others? Your need to be justified and vindicated borders on the paranoid. I wish you luck in therapy.

I dont get you Sloany. I think most people understand your point and either agree or disagree. Why do you find that you NEED to know that you're right?

That's fine if someone disagrees with me, but there's very few people who can go about it in a reasonable fashion.

Reasons from Jazzfanz as to why Boozer was a bad fit for this team:

-He pushes players aside to get rebounds (as opposed to getting outrebounded like the current front court)

-He doesn't play any golf with his teammates (gasp!)

It's logic like this that gets me going. No real basketball talk, just a bunch of garbage that people make up.

Ok, I can agree with that.

I think the reason Boozer was garbage was because his defense was woefully suspect and he has a penchant for getting injured. Now that we have that out in the open you might or might not agree. Now what? Argue about who is right or wrong? Again, I dont get it. You think Boozer was great, I dont. I think he was a good player with some major deficiencies. We went as far as we could with him. Again, thats now out in the open. You might agree or you might not.

Now what?

Well said. Repp'ed once the stupid rep thing thinks 3 reps in 24 hours is not "too much rep given".

I think you have really pushed people away from Boozer the way you continually harp on it Sloan. I like him for his offensive ability and an unreal knack for being where the ball is to rebound. The guy was a light-footed, athletic, Karl Malone-level finisher at the rim, and even from 20 feet out. He has offensive moves no one in the league can touch right now, except of course Griffin but Griffin is a freak of nature.

My biggest beefs with him were 1) his lack of defensive ability/effort - someone on this board said it best back on the old board I believe when they said he moves like a ballerina on offense, but like he has a volkswagen on each foot on defense and 2) he was the antithesis of a team player, and yes largely due to what he did off the court. You may discount what goes on off the court, but it matters. Idc if he is everyone's buddy, but the way he approached the game, like it was just business, that he cared for nothing but his paycheck, that he didn't support anyone else in their desire to win, didn't sit well with other players. We heard Deron comment on it at times, the way he called out nameless folks for not caring about the game (AK also springs to mind - vacation plans?).

But viny is right. We disagree and the issue has been rehashed ad nauseum. Your inability to admit a single flaw and your constant, seriously non-stop, harping on how he made us a better team and how wonderful he is and how he is the second coming of whatever, invites argument and eventually scorn and pity.

You don't even realize that I'm making two separate arguments. The first one is that Boozer is better than Jeffersuck/Millsap. The second one is that last years team is better than this years. The only thing defensively that Jeffersuck/Millsap have on Boozer is that they jump higher. They don't get a lot of steals though. It's not Boozer's fault he gets hurt a lot, but at least he's not Grant Hill, McGrady, Penny Hardaway, etc. Jeffersuck/Millsap rarely get points in transition, hell it seems like this whole team rarely gets them anymore, but that's not solely due to the loss of Boozer. Boozer also got to the line and drew fouls on the other team, better finisher, AND ONE. It's not even close. The fact is, Jazz fans everywhere had Jefferson pegged better than Boozer as soon as we signed him. Laughable.

Ok, I dont think Bozzer is necessarily better than Jefferson...though at this point it looks like he is. Now that that is out in the open...now what? You are wholeheartedly correct that Bozzer is not at fault for being made out of glass. But, really, that's besides the point...isn't it? It's the reality that matters and the reality is that Bozzer is incredibly injury prone. Now what?

Again, you've completely missed MY point. Why do you keep railing about it? Why do you have a fundamental need to hear that your position is the correct one?

For the same reason that you kept mentioning, in multiple game threads, that this seasons team was better because our record was better.

That good enough for you?

That is no longer the case, so I have not mentioned that in quite a while. So, no, that is not good enough for me. That said, my mentioning of that specific claim pales in comparison to your Bozzer proclamations all over this board. I mean, keeping things intellectually honest, you'd have to admit that to an outsider you look like someone who has a clear agenda here on Jazzfanz.

Furthermore, my claims of comparable records were mostly made in reaction to your posts...just sayin'.
