What's new

Anyone have a link to Popovich calling out David Locke?

Pop is at that Belichek/Parcells/Knight/Jim Leyland point in his career when he can just treat anyone the way he wants without impunity.

That is funny. I think we can all appreciate having some one as passionate as locke as part of the Jazz family, but he sure is smug and nice to see someone put him in check.

Put him in check?? There was nothing wrong with the question Locke asked. Good lord Pop is a little bitch!!

Lol at all the Pop hate and defending of Locke.

This place sometimes.

Seriously, If I was a coach or player I'd hate the media too. I'd try and make it so they never wanted to talk to me either. Pop's a genius, and he's always total class when he talks about other teams and players.

Locke is a combination of high pitched radio frequency garble mixed with santorum brains. Popovich remembers him from other dumb questions. As do I. Now that Corbin and Kanter are gone, Locke is the worst part of the Jazz today. If we could only trade lock for cap space and draft picks...

Speaking more realistically, maybe we could submarine the Cavs with Lock...

How do we even get rid of this guy? If the Jazz fired him, he would be the number one troll on Jazzfanz in a heartbeat. (He probably is already!)

"You always try to ask basketball questions, and you have no clue what you’re talking about."

Not sure if Pop meant to come off so churlish, but to speak that way to someone who makes their living from basketball is uncalled for. Locke deserves an apology.

Locke doesn't know the game of basketball.

Can anyone dig up that pre-draft workout where Locke drew a dong on his monitor?

How about that pre-draft commentary last year where he admitted to a scout that he doesn't know anything about basketball, but that he just takes stuff other people say and repeats it.

This thread should be retitled, "Locked on Locke: Does Locke know anything?"... Locke the thread!!!

God, I'm getting tired of defending Locke, but this just demands a retort.

BS. I listen to Locke's podcast nearly every day. I find him both very knowledgeable about basketball in general (in fact, far more demonstrably knowledgeable than most talking heads on tv or radio or anyone posting to this board) but also quite knowledgeable and insightful about Jazz stuff.

I'm not Locke homer, he does have flaws, but I find him to be a very good, mostly reliable insightful source of information on the NBA and the Jazz. I enjoy listening to him (I can look past the things he does that annoy me to see the bigger picture) and feel damned lucky that we have someone in this market who cares enough to provide the amount and kind of content he does. I'm guessing it's almost unmatched in the rest of the NBA.

Oh, and I saw the videocast where he drew a dong on his monitor. It wasn't intentional. He was drawing something else out and in the process quite accidentally drew something that looked like a dong. Totally innocent and totally bogus to rag on him for it.

Finally, Pop is a great coach, but he can be a bit of an arsehole at times. (His schtick where he gives churlish unresponsive answers to questions during game break interviews grew old and tiresome a long time ago. Stop being a jerk and just answer the question. )

You're right without the media and the fans those guys could really play some serious ball....and nobody would be there to see it. The NBA says that the coach use be available for questions pregame, if it bothers Mr. Popovish so much he could investigate another line of work.

Mr. Popovich's disrespect for the league is an embarrassment. It is sad actually, he could have remembered as a basketball genius, instead his legacy will be being rude to innocent reporters. Someday emporer Pop will have no clothes.

A long time ago someone told me to measure the character of a man watch the way he treats people who can give him nothing or people he has power over. It makes no difference how a man treats a person above him or of equal social standing, because in our hearts we are all suck-ups. But interactions with inconsequential people reveal our character.

I try to treat the cashier at Harmon's, the lady at McDonalds, the hotel staff, the janitor in my building with courtesy and respect, even go out of my way to be friendly with them. The world is so full of contention, but it can be curbed with small acts, and friendly words.

[/end soap box rant]

Think of how Locke and the other media would talk positively about Pop if he would have said, " that was very observant you. Yes, our bigs are playing more together, but it was not something we set out to do, it has just happened."
