I guess what I'm saying in all my ramblings is that we have defense, elite defense right now: Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Exum. We need shooters/scoring. Leonard doesn't fit that. Matthews does. So, for the money, I'd rather not have Leonard.

Green, it appears you are understating Leonard as a shooter a bit. He's above the league average and his points per possession is well above the league average. And you are forgetting that Leonard is absolutely special on the defensive side of the ball. His defense on Bron and rebounding at the 4 was key to Spurs victory. Matthews is a good defender but Leonard is certainly a tier higher defensively. He's also much longer than Matthews.

Do you watch games outside of who the Jazz play?? Do you watch other teams aside from when they're playing the Jazz??? Wes Mathews is a better player that Matthews?? Really?? Is there a typo??
 
If the Jazz are going to go for broke, the guy to max out is Jimmy Butler, not Leonard. End of discussion. Both will be matched. The only thing I can think of is offering a S&T for our lottery pick and even then the Bulls say no.

If the Jazz could get either Butler or Leonard on a RFA Max contract, the Jazz should be willing to give a LOT more than just one top 10 pick in a lousy draft. That's the only way anybody blinks - make an offer that's better than any others. Even then, they still probably tell you to screw off.
 
If Duncan retires do the Spurs really build around Kawhi or cash out and tank? Their success is due to the way they draft and a healthy serving of luck. I don't think Kawhi is enough without good draft picks to build around.

Sell Kawhi and the rest of the gang for picks. Take on bad contracts picks. Tank

It seems like they could end up with a plethora of options by cashing out. or put all their eggs in the Kawhi basket.

Rumor is they're going hard after M. Gasol. That's why they didn't already extend Kawhi. They need the extra space they'll get by just having his cap hold on their books instead of a max deal. We aren't getting Kawhi. Sorry.

Assuming they get him. There is going to be a lot of teams going after him.
 
Either way Leonard gets maxed out and stays. He. Is. Staying.
