Could Kanter and Gobert have worked?

watching Kanter anchoring the offense for the Thunders made me think about had we choose to emphasize Kanter + Gobert instead of Favors + Gobert how would our future be?

Gobert is the god of all D, he can more than cover Kanter's deficiency in pick/roll d there, Kanter has decent man-to-man defense. While the current Jazz biggest area of improvement is our anemic scoring, which we know Kanter can provide and then some. Just really made you wonder if we had relegated Favors go come off bench and feature the prime time show of Kanter + Gobert, we can be as good if not a better version Memphis ZBo and Marc Gasol.

Kanter is just really good at offensive rebounding. That is about the only thing he has on Favors.

lol, Kanter is scoring 21 points per game and gets 12+ rebounds with almost 60% from the field the last 7 games. Thats almost Shaq level right now...

I respect your opinion but it is not reasoned. Kanter post-up game is better than Favors, and his hook shot is better too. Kanter is definitely a better free-throw shooter and can shoot some threes. Kanter has a smoother jump shot. So what are you talking about?

After 3 years of bad treatment Kanter just lost motivation giving his best for the Jazz. He is just much better right know, rebounding more, scoring more and with better efficiency and he is also passing the ball... He is playing around the same amount of minutes their. OKC Version of Kanter, ist just not the same player he was here... That´s the first time dude has really luck in his life and will get paid huge this summer.

Meh Dfav is better at defense. Can't have too much of that. I think both would have worked since Gobert really good but Dfav has the edge with defense and is already locked up.

Favors is averaging more points per game on higher efficiency than Kanter, as evidenced by reality:

Derrick Favors: 56.8 TS%
Enes Kanter: 55.0 TS%

So yeah, saying that Favors > Kanter on offense isn't "reasoned", as you put it, is not only wrong, it's a flat out lie.

Would love a comprehensive breakdown of all of both players' stats (raw and in-depth) since the trade. They've both been playing really well, the obvious difference is our guy is a more-than-competant defender. Imagine Enes in this switch-on-everything action.

After all that **** talking of dRTG (which I continue to point out flaws the few times I post) andyou are using true shooting? If you are using TS then Meyers Leonard is a better offensive center than Marc Gasol and Tyson Chandler is one of the best offensive centers of all time.

It could have worked, but the jazz would have been dumb to pick Kanter over Favors, even without thinking about contracts and stuff. Even if Kanter is a slightly better offensive player, which is debatable, Favors is a vastly superior defensive player to the total and absolute scrub the Kanter is defensively.

Favors has been a better jump shooter this year......

Kanter has Russell Westbrook. That make scoring a lot easier. Also, they play at a much faster pace than Utah.

TS% combined with points per game, moron.

You can use stats to support a case and you can remove the weird outliers that fail the eye test.

Favors jumper looks better than Kanter's too. Kanter always seems off-balanced on his jumper. Favors is much more steady.

The thing is, players that don't shoot as much and only basically score on easy putbacks and point blank dunks would naturally have a higher TS%. But they aren't a primary option on offense, because those scoring opportunities for them are harder to create, and therefore their point total per game is lower.

TS% only measures efficiency, not volume. But as I pointed out in my previous post that Blue Elephant completely overlooked, Favors is scoring more points than Kanter as well.

Favors is a better scorer both in volume and in efficiency. Hence, the better offensive player.
