Teams are getting smart about setting these things up so they can facilitate deals and/or prepare for a Hassan Whiteside situation.

Has to be this. No way we'll need him for our playoffs run next year.. LOL
 
Pretty clear he's getting traded or cut. He deserves the rest of the year deal. He plays his *** off... Not sure he'll ever be worthy of a real roster spot but I think he could be a Lou Amundsen type... Plays for 3 or 4 teams per year and always seems to find a team by year end.
 
No doubt it's a deal with multiple years, but all the additional years are team option (similar to the deal Millsap signed). These contracts are great. They are cheap and have very little risk involved. Plus, it gives these players that are on the bubble to get a chance to play hard and show their value.

I wonder if underneath the current is that Little Sap, Cooley and Cotton are good eggs with not the most talent but are good for chemistry whereas other DLeaguers like Williams, Johnson, and Benimon were not such good eggs. I think Willaims and Johnson might have had more talent but are not on rosters right now.
