Would you trade for Kevin Martin?

I saw his name come up on the twitters. Something about who the jazz might target on a draft day trade. He would definitely give us some 3pt shooting and free throw shooting. I don't know how much I would give up for him though... What do you guys think?

I might give up an expiring for him... No way I'd give up our pick. He's old fragile and a bad defender... Doesn't have a great contract.

I'd be down, I guess. Can definitely score. I'm going to assume he is terrible at defense.

I think he is saying that all the contracts we have signed that are non-guaranteed add up to the same amount of $$$ Kevin Martin is due to make next year, which is why people on twitter have been speculating about him. It would probably be those picks and maybe our 2nd rounder this year to get Martin, unless the Wolves can get something better.

Well. He is probably what our pick can get us. I wouldn't.

He's 32 but is still putting up numbers. I'm not sure how he would fit into the long term plan, he probably only has a year or two left. Adding him would probably get us closer to the playoffs next year though. I'm not sure I would trade any rotation player for him because he would hopefully be eclipsed by Burks at some point.

I'd be fine with that... No damned way though if our pick is included.

Why not give up our 2nd rounder?

That's not the pick I was talking about... We have two second rounders this year... They can have either if they want. I don't think we are bringing in two rookies next year.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about his defense, his contract, how old he is etc. But I'd be fine if we traded our non guaranteed contracts and a 2nd rounder for him.

Booker is one of the non guaranteed contracts by the way. Would you give him up?

I'd trade trey for him straight up. Take it or leave it. (throw in the non-guaranteed contracts to match up salaries if needed)

Martin is a good shooter and draws fouls... He's a terrible defender. He is also frail and has a hard time staying healthy. I worry he won't age well.

His contract is 2 more years at 7 per. I struggle to see a fit with him and burks... Not sure either can guard 3s. If the plan was to start him so the bigs can cover his *** on defense that might work. Bring burks and hood off the bench I guess... It's not like good has been the picture of health either.

He actually may not be a bad option. He'd bring some desperately needed scoring and perimeter shooting, not to mention ability to hit FTs. I'd imagine Minnesota is likely looking to clear his salary? I'd take it without giving up any value. I'd try to include Trey (interesting twist to finalize the deal we made with them to land him in the first place) and then any low level assets like second rounders or a single first rounder like the OKC.

What's the rule on having roster space? I thought teams needed to not only fit salaries under the rules, but also have enough roster spots available for the traded players. Not sure you can throw 5-6 guys to a team in exchange for 1. I guess teams have enough roster spots just opening up naturally as contracts expire at the end of the season.

As for Martin..a giant NO! We need a FA who still has a few good years left. Martin doesn't.
