What's new

Would you trade for Kevin Martin?

What's the rule on having roster space? I thought teams needed to not only fit salaries under the rules, but also have enough roster spots available for the traded players. Not sure you can throw 5-6 guys to a team in exchange for 1. I guess teams have enough roster spots just opening up naturally as contracts expire at the end of the season.

As for Martin..a giant NO! We need a FA who still has a few good years left. Martin doesn't.

I think the roster thing applies in season but I think in the offseason you have until a certain date to cut the roster down. Don't think it's an issue.

Martin put up 20 per when he played this year. I think he can be productive if he can stay on the floor... Problem is he's only played 33 games this year. I don't think its a great fit, but I could talk myself into it if it happened.

Damn K Mart used to be the **** remember when he was putting up like 30 points per game?

Still can score, but dude shoulda drank more milk when he was younger.

No. The Jazz have the assets to go after younger, better players than KMart.

As for their abundant 2nd round picks. . . If they don't include them in other trades, I'd prefer to see the Jazz use most of them on a.) players who are older and slip (Draymond Green / Khris Middleton) or b. draft and stash international players. Then just keep an eye on them as they develop. 2nd round picks don't have much value anyways, so there's a chance that they could get a steal somewhere that way.

If we could sign him outright at say the mid-level then I would say go for it. He adds a nice 3pt shot, some scoring off the bench perhaps, good FT guy to have on the floor at the end of those tight games. But I would absolutely not give up any assets for him beyond 2nd rounders.
