On the main issue, I am me.. I like my redneck roots. Want a car that can get me in and out better than a diamond-plated Trojan.
However, my investors are kinda giving me crap (lightly) about being an ACTUAL redneck and driving redneck ****.

So I have looked at going an opposite direction. I've looked at Ferrari F430 spiders, Rolls Ghosts, Bentley Spurs.. and all make me want to puke. Not to mention I feel like it's as obnoxious as fuhhhhhh in St. George.

I have looked at Mercedes S65 AMG, Tesla p85d (more accepted because of 'efficiency'), and the new Escalades.

I just can't do it.

My 'excuse' is we are in the desert.. not Miami or NYC. I also feel like saying "F all you guys that think I should drive something other than who I am."

All the greatest desert dwellers in history drove horses or camels around. That would be bad *** to your investors. Maybe change your name to Doc Holliday too.

If you have around $1100 and a little free time, you can grab a 1993 4wd Ford Explorer in excellent condition and upgrade it to JP status https://www.kbb.com/ford/explorer/1993-ford-explorer/sport-utility-4d/?condition=excellent&vehicleid=10420&intent=trade-in-sell&mileage=167282&pricetype=private-party.

It looks like the most difficult part is finding the right brush guard, but I'm sure they're not too expensive once you come across one.

And FWIW, I had the new Tundra and sold it quick. Horrible mpg and not great off road.
 
Have you considered a Jeep with a high end custom finish? They make some pretty bad ***, luxury looking Jeeps. IDK, maybe that's a little too much of the Hummer look for you, but it doesn't come across as tacky as **** or frat boyish to me.
 
If this vehicle will actually see some serious off road time then sure go with a truck/jeep/suv or whatever. But if it's about getting around and enjoying the ride, AMG all the way and it's not even close.

I really love all the people who commute to and from work in their jacked up turbo diesels.
 
Drive what YOU want to drive. Picking a vehicle based on what other people think is weak.

Plus, if he buys the car we suggest we can live vicariously through him and imagine ourselves driving around in a car that costs more than our house.
 
I wasn't suggesting, at all, that he shouldn't listen to anything from anyone else. Input is good. What I'm saying is, don't make a decision based solely on what you think other people will think of you. If you can't be true to yourself because you're afraid of being judged, then I feel a little bit bad for you.
