As we know, DL is a specialist when it comes to salary dump trades, where Utah takes on a big contract along with picks in exchange for non-guaranteed deals. With the cap going up in 2016, this will be the last year of these cap saving trades at least for a few years. Utah has some good non-guaranteed deals (e.g., Cooley, Millsap) and cap space. Who should they realistically get? Here is a poll, but feel free to add others. Criteria would be a player with a larger contract, who is not really in the team's rotation anymore or a team looking to hit reset.

They will get a pick from someone for that or Porty may want to get him back in a sign and trade. He's not really a salary dump guy.

Another guy that'd fit well would be Josh McRoberts. I suggested we trade the 12 and booker for the 10 and mcroberts... They may not value the savings as much a a mcroberts though.
 
If the Jazz do something like this, then they'd better get some real value back in return. A young starter or a move into the top 10 picks of the draft this offseason.

Why the hell do u hate the Jazz so much!!?? Young? Lee? Stevenson? Wallace? Deron? Really?! U think those idiots are good for this team?! This is shockingly bad!!!

Salary dump deals are generally made to pick up an extra asset by taking on an unwanted player. If you can find a player that could be rejuvenated by a change in scenery, that is just gravy. I'm sure everyone would prefer to sign Butler or Leonard, but in the real world, salary dump deals are actually realistic for a team like Utah. I'd prefer Utah use their cap space by trading for a player in which they take back more salary than they send out, but if the right deal isn't available, Utah should be looking to use that space in any way they can to improve the team. The reason being is that opportunity will disappear for the next couple years due to the huge jumps in the cap that are coming, as stated by OP.

You obviously didn't understand the point of the post and you obviously haven't been paying attention to DL's off-season trades the past two summers, which are about acquiring assets (money, picks) in exchange for taking unwanted players/contracts, while still building towards a competitive team of the future. It has worked the past two off-seasons, so I don't see why he would do different now, unless there was a A+ free agent to be signed or traded for which I don't think there will be. This will be the last summer that Utah can use this trading style to their advantage, so I would be surprised if they didn't do it, in order to get a veteran contributor on a big expiring deal and a couple extra picks.

Two years ago we were in tank mode. Last year Kanter forced DL's hand in asking to be traded. We now have the youngest team ready to contend for a playoff spot. Times have changed!!

If there is a good salary dump deal Philly will take it for less than we will. Don't think there will be many good deals out there. We may be able to acquire a mid sized contract with a player that doesn't have a role or team that wants to clear out some luxury tax but there probably won't ba a first round pick attached to it.
