What's new

jazz need to be 4th or 5th to avoid lakers

Why do fans always talk about avoiding the best teams? If we're a championship calibre team, wouldn't we want to face the best in the league and come out on top? Wouldn't that prove we were the best or at least we could hang with the best?

Yes, this is true, but the Im not looking to watch another loss to the lakers....are you?

Anything less than the WCF is just another average year. Playing basketball should not be like rolling dice!

Which is exactly why we're not a championship team.

Jazz fans know this. That's why we want to avoid anyone of quality in the playoffs.

You want me to go through every year every sport and pick it out for you? It should just be an easy fact to understand. #1 seeds don't make the finals in any sport every year, year in and year out. Teams with matchup issues sometimes get lucky and manage to avoid their achilles heal.

Seed matchings don't necessarily indicate who the best teams are.

The fact of the matter is that there *are* upsets. It happens. Therefore, the next team in whatever bracket faces an inferior team. I'm not talking about close, toss-up "4 vs 5 seed" games. I'm talking when the better team loses for whatever reasons. Is anyone really gonna say it doesn't happen? How is this even debatable?

You're an idiot.

I'm not sure what's more unbelievable. Me responding to your asinine post? Or you trying to make a case for the Jazz being a championship team?

This Jazz team isn't a championship team. Not even close. The last 5 years are proof of it. And certainly this year is proving how desperately changes are needed.

Woooaaaah there buddy. This is out of left field. You clearly just jumped in last post and have no idea what I'm talking about or why I'm saying it. Incredible.

I really don't care.

Jazz aren't a championship team. Whether we avoid the Lakers isn't applicable as long as this roster remains the same. Talk about all your cute matchups and upsets all you want. We cannot beat the top 4 teams and 2 top EC teams in a 7 game series. And that's a wrap folks.

In order for the Lakers to be an Achilles heal;
1) The Lakers would have to be minuscule. A detail often overlooked. A team like the Timberwolves would be something like that, or the Warriors to the Mavs in '07.
2) The Jazz would have to be Achilles (feared and revered the world over).

Ergo:

3) The Lakers are the only team that the Jazz need to be worried about in the playoffs.

lol x 3.
