Sorry date on the story is old, but it showed up on Hoopshype today and in Sportando's twitter today... no idea what is going on.

If Tomic comes over the Jazz, IMO, will combine the #12 and some other assets to go after a vet PG as back up. They jump all in on the playoffs.

On RealGM (I think) saw a trade deal that shipped out Burke and teh #12 (there were other details I cannot remember) for Ramon Sessions. I'll use that as an example. Personally I am not the guy to propose trade ideas.

Favors/Booker/Evans
Hayward/Ingles
Burks/Hood/Millsap
Exum/Sessions/Cotton

14 players and damn good.

If they're still considering bringing Tomic over, I hope that they draft someone regardless.

My preference is that they trade up for Winslow, Hezonja, Johnson or Porzingis. . . but even if they take Kaminsky or Turner, Tomic and Frank/Myles >>> Evans and Cooley.

He got the best deal that he could from Barca, and if the Jazz offer him something significantly better, I think he'll consider it.

I get why fans have fatigue over Tomic, but the Jazz spurned him first. After testing their interest in 2012, he signed with Barcelona and developed exactly how we'd hoped he would. The fact that he has options doesn't make him a bad option. The buyout has been (and always will be) the key factor. I'm not expecting him to come over, but I haven't completely ruled it out. He took the best deal on the table, but still has the potential to upgrade. Pretty sure Id have done the exact same thing.

Out of curiosity, approx how much would his salary from Barcelona be yearly in US dollars, if he's among the top paid European players?

According to this site, Tomic was asking about 2.1 Million euro, which would be about 2.5 Million US dollars. Jazz could easily beat that.

That sounds about right. The fact that he had the leverage with Barcelona makes me wonder if he got a favorable buyout as a result. Barcelona gives him a big deal hoping that the Jazz are only mildly interested, but all it's done is set the floor for his NBA negotiations. It won't be cheap to get him, but even with a standard buyout, the Jazz can offer him significantly more if they want.

Some of the questions are if Euro clubs also cover cost of living expenses (house, car, etc.) that make the value more than what is reported, whether he considers the quality of life in Spain worth more than the difference in money offered and if the Jazz truly value him enough to make a competitive offer. All of those factors led to him taking the Barca extension, but Id have liked to see how it played out if Utah was able to offer a contract at the same time instead of having to wait until July.
 
I hope Dalamon doesnt read this. Hate to get that kid's hopes up to only be crushed again.

I know it wasn't your idea, but that trade is horrible.
 
Yeah. That's a bad deal. I'd rather sign Jeremy Lin or give Burks some minutes at PG behind Exum.

The Jazz are still better picking someone in the draft and exploring other options in free agency or trades. Plenty of PGs got moved at the trade deadline last year. Better to keep Burke in that case IMO.
