Bryce Cotton Making Most of Opportunity

Hey Red, if I was you I'd delete that first link quick. The video is incredible but that catchy little tune playing in the background is likely to get you fracted.

Sure, if it offends. I actually started liking the music. but yeah, I guess for a family site, no good. it's gone..... Unfortunately, it's probably the best highlight vid from his youth. but, this short vid at least shows his skills to a degree. I did consider how the vid starts. hey, it's rap, what can we expect? If it bothers one person here, I'll assume it bothers more then one, so I removed it.

There was a video of Cotton and Dunn working out with Shammgod that was just posted in the news forum. Those workouts look awesome. I've been a big Cotton fan for a few years (as a PC alum and follower of the team). He's legit and, by the end of this season, there will be no doubt that he's better than Trey.

Hopefully, the Jazz brass already sees this and is on their way to getting something decent back for Trey while they still can. Kris Dunn is also going to be awesome in the NBA. I know I'm being a PC homer, but I do believe in both of these players' NBA potential.

I'm with you, Chris. I don't think Bryce will falter. Over the years, PC has had some great guards that went on to play in the NBA. Beginning with Lenny Wilkens right down to Cotton and Dunn. And I've really been impressed by what the Jazz management and coaching staff are doing. I've always followed any of our players that made it to the next level. And I don't think anymore so then with Cotton, because of his story, and his will and worth ethic. I think Utah is the best thing to happen to him to date on his journey. Quinn Snyder is just the guy to help Cotton develop, and I too suspect he can replace Trey. Not wishing failure for anyone, and neither is Cotton. Trey is his teammate. But Cotton may thrive, time will tell. Those last 5 games might have been garbage time largely(but not the final game with Houston), but what Jazz fans saw is not going to diminish. That's Cotton, he can succeed at this level. I sure would like to see it happen with the Jazz.

I can personally handle the lyrics and I think JazzFanz ought to allow those sorts of videos to be posted with a warning that you should mute your sound if you are offended by foul language, but they don't. Instead they give out infractions if you post or even link to content that doesn't comply with site rules. I wanted to prevent that from happening to you because I enjoy the info you've been bringing to us.

Well, I appreciate that, Joe. Here's a new piece from Fanside Purple and Blues:

To me it has nothing to do with "handling" the lyrics, as if tolerating bad language is some kind of weird macho thing that proves someone is not weak. Some people don't like it, and that's fine. The rules are no, so respect the rules. But if it makes people feel macho to blast music throwing F-bombs around instead of actual lyrics, more power to them I guess. And more's the pity.

The point is that he posted the video for the images, not the sounds. I enjoyed the images. The sounds sucked until I turned them off. That's how to handle them.

You know, when I first watched that video, quite a while ago, I was immediately disappointed that it had to start right off with a variation of the F bomb. I was like "gee, thanks, we needed that". It's gone, and just as well. Never intended to break rules, but I'm sure I didn't read 'em cover to cover either. I know I didn't. Don't get me wrong, not trying to rationalize my decision to post it. I just decided since it was the best image quality for the age of the clips, I'd overlook the language, since it wasn't every other word, just 2-3 times I think. I'm glad it was pointed out, and it would have been gone yesterday if I'd come back to the thread sooner. I knew, and I should have listened to the little voice saying "naw, not that one":-)

Edit: just to make it clear, I exercised poor judgement, I regret it, and I apologize if anyone was offended.

https://bleacherreport.com/articles...s-off-45-inch-max-vert-at-p3-sports-institute

"Utah Jazz point guard Bryce Cotton doesn’t have a whole bunch of NBA credentials to his name, but boy does the 22-year-old have some bounce.

On Tuesday, P3 Sports Science posted a clip of Cotton flexing his 45-inch max vert, which is tied for the highest ever recorded at the institute. For context, Cotton got higher than both Zach LaVine, Andrew Wiggins and teammate Jeremy Evans who each hit 44 inches.

Hopefully we get to see more of Cotton’s hops out on the break next season."

Two things:
First, Bleacher Report writers don't seem to know what "both" means.

Second, does anybody know how they are measuring max vert? Are they recording how high his feet are off the ground, or are they computing the difference between how high his hand reaches on this jump and how high his standing reach is?

I don't know what they did here but the normal method is to do the stand reach minus highest point reached.
