Ok so this was fun. I asked my kids, and then asked them to ask their friends on facebook, what some of those words meant and where they came from. In my family we are sensitive to the word "retard" because we grew up with a severely disabled brother (who died when I was 16), due to his being born with a fused skull. Anyway, almost NONE of them knew what "lame" meant other than "stupid" or "not cool", when I told them it meant someone who cannot walk they both said "oh yeah, I guess it can mean that too" and my 13 year old daughter had never really heard the word in that context before (until I reminded her of the Bible passages where it is mentioned). They didn't think about crazy being anything but someone doing something out of the ordinary. And NONE of them knew that ghetto hearkened from WWII. Interesting through experiment with the fam to be sure.
