I really don't see us staying at 12. With all the PF's available at 12 could we put together a package for the Kings? Denver has hit the reset button and could use some future picks after they tank next year. Do we move back and pick up a 2019 pick to ensure that we have the assets to refine the roster when our core is peaking? Finally we could use the pick as a chip to get a proven player now. Below are a list of assets. Discuss/

I think Chris Johnson has team option(non-guaranteed contract), too. You can add him to the list...

I still like the Detroit trade idea best(Trey+12+OKC 2018 for 8 and Jennings). I would guess for a trade to take place the teams at 6-9 range would need to not be in love with any prospect at that range and for us to be in love with whoever is left at the respective spot. Draft night trades in the lottery are not the easiest to pull off in general. A lot of things have to align for it to happen.

Any idea how much the contract is for?

Wait until draft night then see what happens. If a good trade opens up to move up, great. If a good player is being dangled for the pick, take it. If future assets that are good are offered take it. If not draft the highest rated player on your board.

Jazz are in a great position this draft. We really dont need anything from the draft. Jazz can just wait it out and get the best asset possible for a trade or at their draft spot.

We really don't have two rotation spots for rookies... we barely have 1. What I would want to do... in this order with the pick.

1- Wait and see if Stanley Johnson or Porz falls to us.

2- I would trade to move up to get Stanley Johnson if the price is right... stitches idea is fair... don't think I'd go too much higher than that.

3- Trade down to 16 or 17 and pick up an additional first rounder next year... preferably an unprotected one.

4- Use the pick on Frank the Tank

I actually am really warming up to the idea of trading back and picking up an additional first rounder if no one falls. I think the consensus 12-19 are all pretty similarly rated. I know everyone wants to consolidate now and move up, but I am not sure that is the best idea. If we have additional picks and roll into the season with our current roster (resign Ingles, keep Cotton and Booker) and some minor free agent moves (bring in Pleiss or another backup center) and keep our flexibility it allows us to get a look at how much better Exum is, how Burks fits, is Hood able to stay healthy and if our late season surge was for real. If it is apparent that we need to make a roster adjustment then we are in a much better situation to make that call. We also get to see which teams might be looking to rebuild after a slow start...

Say Phoenix decides to give up on their treadmill and trade Bledsoe... we'd have enough assets to do something.

What if Dragic isn't working out great in Miami and they want to clear the cap space to go after a mega free agent.. we'd have enough assets to do something.

If we can get Lyles, Looney, or Portis and have them get spot minutes as 4th or 5th big and get ready to be 3rd big next year.... while adding to our current asset base that is something I'd be very interested in.

Wow 4.5 million of possible salary dump between Johnson, Jerrett, Millsap, Cotton, and Cooley.

The thing is... 12-19 are pretty similarly rated, BUT... chances are one of 1-11 WILL drop to 12. There simply is no way that no team would fall in love with one of the 12-19 guys. I think at least one of Booker, Payne and Kaminsky will go before 12 and somebody will drop to us. The thing is... we have young players, and in some positions 2 players deep that we like on our roster and we can afford to pick BPA. We don't have pressing needs position-wise(at least not ones that will be addressed in the draft). We can absolutely afford to just wait and see who drops to 12. Chances are one of Johnson, Turner, Porzingis will drop... Now the question is is it worth it to go get one of them(+Hezonja,WCS) for certain by moving to no. 7 or no.8... I don't know... I think it will be a draft-night decision and it will depend a lot on what the teams at 7 and 8 want in return...

Right now I don't like moving back simply because I like Turner more than most and I think there is a chance that he or Johnson will be there at 12. If at draft night nobody of the 12-19 range jumps into top 11 and all of Turner, Johnson, Porzingis... are off the board, I guess I would be OK with moving back and acquiring an extra asset. BTW I would be targeting 2017 draft for that extra asset and not next year's draft.

A lottery team has NO rotations spots? ****s sake mate.

Just a technicality, but if we had team options on Booker and the rest of the players you mention, we would not be able to trade them before these options were excercised. Their contracts are unguaranteed, which actually makes a world of difference as to the fact that we therefore can trade them if we so choose.

This thread is started every summer in EVERY NBA forum i frequented. Even Facebook too. U know how many times Jazz have moved up alt? 1 time for Trey ****e me Burke over Gianni's. It's not happening. Jazz are not moving up. Get over it.

Yeah... these trades all happen as the draft is happening so we would know what is available at 12 prior to trading.

If Turner is the one who falls i could see Boston and Milwaukee willing to pay to move up and take him. I like him as a prospect, but not a long-term fit. I don't think he can play alongside Gobert. If he was there I'd take him and start making calls. If I can get 16 or 17 and an unprotected pick from Boston or Milwaukee in 2016 or 2017 (I'd prefer it was 17 as well) then I'd move him. If not I'd keep Turner and give him the backup minutes at center. If he does well his trade value will increase and we could move him for something else we need.

If Detroit is unable to get Mario or Winslow I'll bet they'd trade back and take Booker or Frank.

A lottery team that surged at the end of the year and has a very good player coming back from an injury does not have 2 rotation spots for rookies.

Didn't we get this french dude one time by moving up with our second round pick into the first round... Again I can't remember.

I doubt they move up but it is an option. I think they probably move back or out. Regardless you are a douche.

Also Borchardt. . . Trading a second for Gobert could also be considered moving up. So two of the last three years we have moved up. Last year we didn't need to because the idiots gifted us Hood.

Wonder if they'd have traded up for Hood if he would have fallen?

I pretty much only want to see it get traded up. And only traded down if they can get a decent asset and a guy like Looney or Portis.
