WOW - Trading into the Top Ten picks was CRAZY dificult

Here is the thing. If you have confidence in your scouting, mid to late first round picks are meaningful. The Spurs have feasted on them. That 27th pick had no value to the Nuggets a couple years back, but to the Jazz, who look to be more competent in that area, it meant the franchise. A late round pick in the hands of Michael Jordan is near worthless. Celtics and Sixers haven't really shown they know what to do with their extra picks either.
To sum things up, trading multiple first round picks would cost the Jazz more than most other teams, because of the Jazz's superior scouting and better ability to develop players.

I can sort of understand their not wanting to trade from 9 to 16, but the Jazz had to have offered the 12 + assets in which case they probably woulda been able to grab Kaminsky at 12. Dunno what assets the Jazz offered and maybe Charlotte was scared Miami or Indy would grab Frank.

Miami or Indy (probably Miami if DX was right [and they are more than anyone else]) would've grabbed him. They wanted Frank, period. I can't even necessarily fault them considering their awful shooting/spacing/scoring ability. It just wasn't going to happen.

I really think the Jazz's best shot was with Sacramento at 6. Them picking WCS screamed of a panic selection and I think he would've been there at 12, and with their weak backcourt and over-leveraged future picks situation, the Jazz could've put together an offer where everyone won. I was mostly excited when WCS went there because it meant someone else was coming down, but I also got a little bummed/worried because they seemed like a good partner.

I think that was the real fear. Indy has been shopping Hibbert. There's a real good chance they would have taken Kaminsky over Turner.

Honestly, you can't blame the Hornets for just grabbing the guy they wanted and not playing games. Probably the smartest thing they have done in years. Now if the guy they wanted turns out to be a good player is an entirely different matter.

Lol, can't believe how many people in this thread are jumping to conclusions without knowing the details of the picks offered. Boston has a lot of picks, but a lot of them are heavily protected crap. I don't care if you offer 10 firsts, if they are all highly protected and not likely to be conveyed for several years, I'm still keeping the high first that helps now.
