James Madison- excerpt from Federalist Paper #10-The Utility of the Union as a Safeguard Against Domestic Faction and Insurrection

If a faction consists of less than a majority, relief is supplied by the republican principle, which enables the majority to defeat its sinister views by regular vote. It may clog the administration, it may convulse the society; but it will be unable to execute and mask its violence under the forms of the Constitution. When a majority is included in a faction, the form of popular government, on the other hand, enables it to sacrifice to its ruling passion or interest both the public good and the rights of other citizens. To secure the public good and private rights against the danger of such a faction, and at the same time to preserve the spirit and the form of popular government, is then the great object to which our inquiries are directed. Let me add that it is the great desideratum by which this form of government can be rescued from the opprobrium under which it has so long labored, and be recommended to the esteem and adoption of mankind.

But it is not with a view to infractions of the Constitution only, that the independence of the judges may be an essential safeguard against the effects of occasional ill humors in the society. These sometimes extend no farther than to the injury of the private rights of particular classes of citizens, by unjust and partial laws. Here also the firmness of the judicial magistracy is of vast importance in mitigating the severity and confining the operation of such laws. It not only serves to moderate the immediate mischiefs of those which may have been passed, but it operates as a check upon the legislative body in passing them; who, perceiving that obstacles to the success of iniquitous intention are to be expected from the scruples of the courts, are in a manner compelled, by the very motives of the injustice they meditate, to qualify their attempts. Considerate men, of every description, ought to prize whatever will tend to beget or fortify that temper in the courts: as no man can be sure that he may not be to-morrow the victim of a spirit of injustice, by which he may be a gainer to-day. And every man must now feel, that the inevitable tendency of such a spirit is to sap the foundations of public and private confidence, and to introduce in its stead universal distrust and distress.

cus i feel the utah jazz jerked me around paying money(albeit not as much as certain fans) yearly since 2005 for nbalp increasing price year by year beyond inflation

from 45 us dollar (back then about 35 euros) to a whopping 200 euros a year!
there is inflation but just not this much. so i lost faith in utah jazz management. they should have tanked. i heard gsw became champion they openly tanked :P.


not to mention all the time i invested in watching live utah jazz games. you must know being from germany what a investment it is in the utah to follow live games.
missed a few games from 2005 to 2014 most of em comming at the 2nd half of 2014.

and besides jumping back on on the utah bandwagon mike make me a bandwagoner or a fairweather fan. i dont want to be a bandwagoner or fairweather fan
 
You've found a safe and relatively quiet place at JazzFanz to test out your weirdo reactionary ideas. Might as well play it out as long as you can. You've even found at least two kindred spirits in Duck Rodgers and Big Boobs. They may need you even more than you need them. Three marginal compadres adrift in an increasingly progressive world.
 
So I've been avoiding this thread on purpose because I've decided not to engage DJ anymore. After a slew of hateful and angry negs last week I decided he/she's not someone I want to speak to anymore. So this will probably be my last post responding DJ.

DJ's posts not only sadden me, but they are starting to frighten me a bit. His hateful responses to threads in GD are extreme and troubling. They read like a "manifesto" and honestly I worry about DJ and his/her mental well being. Now, it may be a language barrier of some sort or he may just be trolling hard. But the things DJ posts are really ****ing terrible.

I vote that DJ should go, not from JF, but to a mental health professional and talk about his/her anger.

DJ, stay on JF and vent all you want, I think it will be good for you. But please, if you ever get fed up and feel like there's nothing else to do but lash out in a violent way, please post on JF instead and get it all out. Thank goodness you have church to keep you from doing terrible things, keep going to church.

This post is more for my conscience and at least getting this out there. DJ, I won't respond here or to you directly ever, take it personally because I think you're destructive and I don't keep people like you around. But please don't ever do anything stupid and violent.
 
So is your poll choice going to be a simple majority, or what exactly. I mean you are precious few votes away from needing to provide cheese to everyone.

I like smoked gouda, and sharp cheddar, among many many others.
