What's new

we need to adress the Pink N-word in the room

after obama the president of the united states used the N word as representative of america as a whole. imho it is open season on using the N-word.

if a president of the country can use the n word. the presiding president who represents white boys all over america.
the leader of the free world.
it is not that he used the n word as just some random half black dude. no he used it while being president in an interview!

which means every american now can use the world freely!

agree or disagree?

The question that begs to be asked is why would you WANT to use that word?

i technically can use it. i am not an american and i am 1/4th black!

but i think if a leader is allowed to use the word why not Joe white dude from the corner?

if you accidentally use it as a white dude you might get flack. so i think that should stop now!

i came to this subject after watching the new hbo show ballers! spoilers ahead: at this party of nfl players mostly blacks a white dude high on coke and drinks yells out the n word. not in a racist context but more of a friendly brotherly context. but the whole party stops and gets mad at him and they throw him in the water :P.
so i was like wait what the president is allowed to say it because he is black. i know that. but as a leader of whites, blacks, chinese, and all other races in america oif he sais it everybody is allowed to cus he is the leader he leads the way.

thats why i started this thread just because this "random tought" popped in my head, and i like to think about stuff.

so to me it is not a quesiton if i want or why would someone want to. but its a matter of are they now allowed.

edit- the white dude said at the end of a great speach: raise a glass my ******

We should avoid the "n-word" in every circumstance. ****** should only be used in the context the president was using it here, in a discussion about race, or in witness to an others profane use of the term.

Again, why would you want to use that word as a 3/4 white man?

i dont. i just wanna post the dilelma if a president uses it why cant everyone.
its one thing to ask if lil john has a whole song that every sentence ends with that word.

why cant anybody use it freely

I'm surprised that Dutchg failed to grasp the concept of context.

You can use it. You just can't say sup ****** or I hate *******. As a white dude it would be perfectly acceptable for you to say:

"Racism, We are not cured of it, and it's not just a matter of it not being polite to say '******' in public. That's not the measure of whether racism still exists or not. It's not just a matter of overt discrimination. Societies don't, overnight, completely erase everything that happened 200 to 300 years prior."

Dilemna? Do you know why the president used the word? Why do you think folks would want to use that word and keep that as part of their vocabulary?

Your last question doesn't make sense. Anyone can use the word in everyday language but I can guarantee you that in most instances there will be consequences to using that word.

dont think i did.

thw white guy in the tv show said at the end of a great speech: raise a glass my ******. and it ended badly for him! it was totaally not meant as a racial slurr in that context.

wouldnt using it that way cure some of the racism?

ofcourse i know u can use it. depending on the sitaution and settings those consequences can be just or unjust. harsh or light.
it may seem like i am trolling but i kinda serious wonder that if a president uses it. the word has been greenlit for everyone to use! that might be my owned effed up worldview. judging by your reactions.

So if a president of some country does something, that's a green light for it's populace to follow in step? What's your agenda here and why are you so interested in what Americans do?

noo agenda. just some philosophical debate.

and yes a president is not above the law! he should lead by example and set examples right.
he used the n word in an interview(whether he is black or half black or not i dont think that matters in this case.) so now is it okay for some random white guy of the street to use it in similar context or not.

seems like you think a president is like a royal above the law :P

anyhow vinyl i apologize if i came over insensitive and offensive.
just wanted to bounce off the tought to someone!

btw dont know if you heard a couple of years back a dutch magazine called Rhianna an ultimate N**** B****
I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights!" the singer tweeted to the editor of Jackie, who has apologized for the racial slur.

Rihanna hit Twitter on Tuesday to blast a Dutch fashion magazine for using a racial slur to describe her.

The publication, Jackie, ran a brief item in its most recent issue that praised the singer's style while calling her the "ultimate n---- b----."

"She has street cred, she has a ghetto *** and she has a golden throat," the piece read, as translated by Parlour magazine. "Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate n---abitch and displays that gladly, and for her that means: what’s on can come off. If that means she’ll be on stage half naked, then so be it."

The item also erroneously referred to the Barbados-born singer as Jamaican.

After learning about the article, Rihanna tweeted a message tagged at Eva Hoeke, the editor-in-chief of the magazine.

"I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights!" she wrote. "I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000's of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That's your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense...'N---- B----'?!....Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you...F--- YOU!!!"

Hoeke has apologized for the slur, posting a letter to readers on the magazine's Facebook page.

"This should have never happened.
Period," she wrote, according to Parlour. "While the author meant no harm -- the title of the article was intended as a joke -- it was a bad joke, to say the least. And that slipped through my, the editor-in-chief’s, fingers. Stupid, painful and sucks for all concerned. The author has been addressed on it, and now I can only ensure that these terms will no longer end up in the magazine."

She also told readers that there was no "racist motive" behind the choice of words.

"It was stupid, it was naive to think that this was an acceptable form of slang -- you hear it all the time on tv and radio, then your idea of what is normal apparently shifts -- but it was especially misguided: there was no malice behind it," she wrote, adding: "We never intended to offend anyone. And I mean that."

but i do find rihanna a hypocrite she refers to people with the n word. even to a child saying my little *****

pretty funny story. these dutchies(i am not a dutch guy not a native from here) are in everyday use a little free-er with the n word. even if they have a rich slave history!
litterally white guys here would say to your face the n word (dutch version) if you are from african descent.

they litterally had a snack called *****kisses. but recently changed that to just kisses

and i find it fascinating that some cultures and countries are so afraid of using the word

let's put this a way you might grasp.

Rednecks refer to themselves as rednecks. If you walk into a redneck bar and make a toast to rednecks you will probably get your *** kicked.

It's not the same context! Obama did not use the word ****** in a positive friendly way. He used it in a serious discussion about racism.

so now everyone can use it in a serious discussion about racism?

al those journalist where tip toeing in the same serious discussion not saying the word!

i just think from my foreign limited persepctive this whole tip toeing around words while at same time glorifying it in rap songs is stupid.

btw i feel comfortable to say redneck on this and any forum. and other racial "slurs"

but on this forum i dare not spell out the n word and it is censored btw.

so you cant compare redneck/cracker to the n word.

1) Yes everyone can use it (tactfully) in a serious discussion about race.

2) These journalists are being silly.

3) You are right we cannot compare what blacks have had to deal with to what rednecks have had to deal with, but it does illustrate the point that you cannot use a derogatory term in a friendly way if you are not a member of that group without offending people. It's a back handed compliment at best.
