An interesting article by 538.com using advance analytics to predict if the recent FA singings over/under paid on their return on investment.

According to their analysis...

Utah Jazz: J Ingles was slightly over paid.
San Antonio Spurs: Have 3 of the top 10 signings in UNDER paying for the contribution the players will make. The rich get richer.
OKC Thunder: Have 2 of the most OVER paid free agents.

I disagree on Ingles. I really like his contribution on the team. Some players contributions are harder to quantify.

I am OK with giving Ingles a slight "overpay". He is great for chemistry and a good support player.

From a pure stats perspective yeah he is overpaid a little. But that is when intangibles come into play and we realize we got a decent deal for keeping him. I like it overall.

Taking intangibles into account, OKC got SCREEEEEWWWWWWWEEEEDDDD on Kanter. Just saying.

Slightly underpaid last season. Now slightly overpaid. No big deal; Utah has the money.
Ingles is an intelligent player who can fill backup minutes as needed. He's good in the locker room and I love seeing him trash talking on the court.

I'd wager that if they just used stats after the All-Star break that we'd find that we are underpaying Ingles.

Think he was over payed the first half of the season. Was strictly a spot up shooter and not a good one at that. Second half he was under paid. He was able to catch and shoot as well as off the dribble and shot over 40% from three.

My favorite is Kyle Singler being overpaid by $21 M... his total contract is $25 M. Nice work OKC. They offloaded Lamb and Jones to save luxury tax and will likely try to dump Novak (with assets) or Augustine... to keep Kanter and Singler.

IDK how valid this is.

DeAndre Jordan underpaid by 51 million? Dude is overpaid in my book. Not an elite defender and can't hit FT's. Incredible rebounder and finisher, but he is slightly overpaid.
