Team ONE LOVE:

PG - Kyrie Irving / Tim Hardaway
SG - Clyde Drexler / Paul George / Brandon Roy
SF - Dominique Wilkins / Carmelo Anthony
PF - Tim Duncan / Dirk Nowitzki / LaMarcus Aldridge
C - Yao Ming / Tyson Chandler

Team Siro:

PG - Steve Nash / Tony Parker / John Wall
SG - Reggie Miller / Allen Iverson
SF - Kawhi Leonard / Shawn Marion / Lamar Odom
PF - Karl Malone / Rasheed Wallace
C - Moses Malone / Ben Wallace

ONE LOVE's Case:

Philosophy

- Strong Defensive Presence Inside (Duncan, Yao, Chandler)

- Strong Inside Scorers (Duncan, Nowitzki, Yao, LaMarcus)

- Most talented wing scorers in the history of the game (Dominique, Drexler, Carmelo)

Point Guard

Kyrie Irving is the most dynamic point guard in today's game. All Star Game MVP 2014, this year alone he scored 55 points VS POR and 57 points VS the Spurs, shooting 41.5% from the 3pt range for the year. He is the perfect complementary to Dominique and Drexler, young, exciting and can hit the 3pt shot consistently. Nash not known for his defense has never guarded a PG this dynamic.

Shooting Guard

Clyde "the glide" Drexler. What can I say? One of the best SG to have ever played the game. Offensively Drexler will be too much for Reggie to contain. In their head-to-head Drexler takes it with 12-4 win/loss against Reggie, averaging 18.8 points and a whopping 6.9 assists and 5.8 rebounds. On this team Drexler will handle the ball a tonne, making plays for others and for himself. Best Stats: 27.2pts, 7.9rebs, 5.8assists.

Small Forward

The Hall of Fame Dominique Wilkins vs Leonard, this is not a close match-up. Best Stats: 30.7pts, 6.4rebs, 2.6assists and is 1 of 7 players in NBA history to average at least 25 points per game for 10 consecutive seasons. 12th All Time Scorer in History. He will run the floor with the playmaking Drexler and Irving and score easily in transition. In the half-court he will still find ways to score as one of the most athletically gifted player the NBA has ever seen.

Power Forward

Tim Duncan VS Karl Malone. Let's look at the stats. In their 25 match-ups since 1997 Duncan takes a 17-8 winning edge over Malone. Duncan averages 25pts, 11rebs, 2.7blocks (Karl 20pts, 10reb, 0.8blk). Duncan clearly the better player whenever they played and the stats show that. Moreover Duncan provides Championship Defense and Leadership that has won him 5 Championship Rings.

Center

Yao Ming, a highly skilled player who could score with his back to the basket or simply rises above and shoot over you with his 7'6 frame. Best season with a line of: 25pts, 9.4reb, 2block, 2assists. It will be a tough match-up but Yao will hold his own offensively with his shooting and defensively will bother the 6'10 Malone with his 7'6 frame.

Bench

- Dirk Nowitzki - Elite Scorer. Future HOF. Enough Said.

- Carmelo Anthony - Unstoppable Force / Prolific Scorer

- Paul George - Will shut down Iverson (and torches him offensively)

The bench is where this team will dominate. One of the most talented bench in this competition. Too much scoring. Too much length. Double one player - the other would score with ease.

Conclusion

1) Duncan/Yao/Chandler solid Defensively

2) Duncan 17-8 winning record over Malone historically

3) Dynamic Dominique & Drexler too strong offensively

4) Offensively Elite Bench with Nowitzki and Carmelo

Siro's Case:

At the point guard, Steve Nash provides elite three point shooting and some of the best passing ever seen in the NBA. He is a player who likes to have the ball in his hands, and the composition of the starting line up allows him to do that as it contains zero ball hogs. At the SG, we have shooting expert and HOF Reggie Miller to rain down threes on his opponents whenever Nash or Malone draw the defense and get him open. He is such an elite 3-point shooter, that it took until Curry to finally break his 3 point record. He is also a capable offensive player all around. Next we have defensive player of the year Kawhi Leonard, a premier perimeter defender, capable outside shooter, and a versatile offensive player. Those three make up a lethal wing combination that will torch you from the outside, happily take it inside, and distribute the ball beautifully to the monstrous inside players.

The Malones front court represents a considerable challenge to opponents. At the PF, Karl Malone is a physical specimen that simply cannot be defended. He is as willing to bang it up with the best of them, as he can destroy you with an accurate mid-range shot. He is also a world class defender, and one of the best PF passers the NBA has ever seen. He is also a great rebounder, but if he misses a rebound, then The Chairman of the Boards, Moses Malone, will be there to clean it up. Moses is a dominating inside presence who will defend with toughness and tenacity, provide excellent low post scoring, and force defenders into the paint, leaving the scorchers to scorch away.

And then comes the second unit, lead by scoring prodigy Allen Iverson. The Answer is truly a force to reckon with, as he is able to single handedly lead a rag tag team of nobodies to become championship contenders. The damage he can do as the leader of the second unit of a team of all-time greats is unimaginable. While Iverson is one tough thug, he's not the only thug on the team. Defensive all-time great Ben Wallace protects the paint and collects the rebounds, while 'Sheed fires away from inside and out. Jacks of all trades Shawn Marion and Lamar Odom can come in and cause the opposition all kinds of headache since they can attack in so many different ways, while providing great defense. At the PG, we have our choice between crafty Tony Parker and bullet-fast John Wall.

With competition leading outside shooting, elite inside play, tough as-nails defense, and ability and knowledge to win, I have constructed the perfect team!

One Love's team just doesn't compare. Irving is his only true 3 point shooter, and he's a liability on D. And while Dirk can shoot the 3, he's mainly a mid-range threat. Duncan is one hell of a player, but he will have a hard time finding the space to operate. Drexler and Wilking will be colliding with Duncan as they all scramble to get inside or hit a mid-range shot. Outside of Chandler, his bench is pathetic defensively, and Iverson will score 40 points in 20 minutes. I fully expect this to be an easy matchup. I would win 4-1 in a 7 game series.

I'm still pretty up in the air on this one, any input from either contestant after seeing the others arguments?

He doesn't even have an argument. Just info about each player individually. Nothing about how his team works together, or why it would be better than mine. He has a decent, if movement restricted, starting line up, but a weak bench. I think I should win this round.

Think I would have preferred One Love if he'd started Dirk/Duncan instead of Duncan/Yao... Siro's got my vote (for now... dun dun dun).

Kinda feel like the overall talent level of One Love's team is higher, but Siro's team has better chemistry.

I agree with this. Individually, his players are good. But as a team, meh.

Nice job pairing Nash with Malone. Probably the closest thing you could get to replicating the Stockton/Malone pick n' roll.

Siro's

His bench is way worse than One Loves, but I dont think benches really matter that much.

Using Siro's logic, his front line of Malone's who are 6'9 and 6'10 are going to have a hard time scoring again 6'11 Duncan and 7'5 Yao.

Plus Kawhi Leonard is in the starting lineup and he is meh considering this is an all-time draft.

Like Cy said his bench is worse than One Love's, which I think matters. Dirk off the bench is unbelievable.

LOL .. Siro making some absurd claims in this.

1) Chandler the only defender the 2nd Unit? How about Paul George? All Defensive First Team 2014

2) Iverson is not going to score anything close to 40 points in 20 minutes against Paul George, LOL ... Paul George will stick to him like clue with his 6'9 frame - Iverson will be lucky to get an easy shot off against him. If he goes inside then the DPOY Tyson Chandler is waiting in the middle.

3) Nowitzki not a 3pt shooter? He is 17th All Time in 3pt made with 1,575 makes, Nash as much as he shoots at 15th with 1,685 makes.

4) Carmelo, Brandon Roy, Hardaway and Paul George, can also make 3's, you're acting like these guys shoot sub 30.

Don't be petty. I gave my honest opinion. Whoever one chooses, the other one won't like it.

I just have to bust your balls a little bit, no hard feelings. My honest opinion is your bench is trash compared to One Love's and your starters don't really make up the difference.

Didn't Boozer score at will on Yao Ming in the playoffs?

Duncan and Yao offer a lot of length, but they both can be worked in the pick n roll and can't show that well against a sharp shooting Nash and the best PNR PF ever.

Paul George, in One Love's basement, with the candlestick...

Duncan better than Malone when they matched up? What? WC, not nearly as conclusive as you're making it to be.

Go ahead and tell me how many playoff series Tim Duncan/the Spurs won whenever they encountered Malone in the playoffs.

0. Malone routinely buzz-sawed them when the games mattered most.

in a 7 game series, Siro's team wins. OL's bench is deeper, but it doesn't matter. Teams need to only be about 8 deep, and Siro's team is full of winners. A Nash/Malone/Malone 1/4/5 pairing is simply bonkers, and far superior to Kyrie/Duncan/Ming. That's the series right there.

Irving < Nash
Drexler > Miller
Dominique > Leonard
Duncan > Malone
Yao < Moses

3-2 starting lineup to me

Hardaway = Parker
George = Iverson
Carmelo > Marion
Nowitzki > Rasheed
Chandler = Wallace

2-0 Bench to me

Starting lineup will be close, but the bench will put on the 10 point lead for me.
