Head Coach Jerry Sloan to resign today :(

Jerry Sloan and Phil Johnson. I feel 100x worse than Sloanfeld did when Boozer signed with the Bulls. Rejoice if you want, but for me this is a dark, dark day for Jazzbasketball. It's times like this I really miss Larry Miller.

Agree there. I was stunned to see the news and it felt surreal for some time.I was wondering whether I read it right.

I hope for Deron's sake that he wasn't a big part of this. If he was, then I would lose a LOT of respect for him. A lot. Same with the organization.

Jazz are going to find out how tough life is going to be without Sloan in the long run.
It is never going to be the same again

Stockton had a similar exit too, although his was a little more planned. Rumors of clashes with Marc Jackson throughout the season and an emotional farewell. Sad to see two icons of Jazz depart the way they did

at least we had this...

Sad day. So many great memories with sloan on the sidelines, amazing work ethic and there will never be anyone quite like Jerry. Also gonna miss Phil, so loyal and such an awesome thing to go out with jerry and not take the big raise.

Phil and Jerry were a timeless duo. The Jazz as an organization and the state of Utah as a whole are better for having had these men run the team for so many years. They will be greatly missed. Greatly.

Just got home from working a 12 hour shift at work. Being that I'm the biggest Jazz fan in my family, my phone was ringing off the hook. My dad brothers and wife wanted to be the first to tell me Sloan retired. This is the first chance I've had to turn my computer on. I am in utter shock and disbelief. He was the Jazz period.

I hope Sloan is fine with his decision and enjoys life after so many years with one organization. I am a little concerned that Sloan in his last interview looked like he is fighting mental issues, I hope I am wrong. Utah Jazz will be just fine.

The increasingly contentious relationship between Sloan and Williams boiled over when they clashed at halftime of a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night. The showdown between Sloan and Williams became so heated on Wednesday, at least two Jazz players feared that the coach and star could come to blows – even though the confrontation ended before reaching that point.

After feeling undermined, one source said Sloan told Jazz owner Greg Miller that if this is how he wanted to run a franchise, he could do it without him as coach.

I just hope this is overblown and not completely true. If it is, then I would say the Jazz are in deep trouble with Greggy boy running this franchise and letting his players dictate terms

As with anything, I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in between.

I'm pretty sure it was Monson who said all that. He claims he talked to Sloan about it and has firsthand knowledge.
