Let's play what if in this thread and get drunk on kool-aid.

I will start...

What if Rudy blows up in a big way? I am talking 20+ PPG, 15-17 RPG, 4 bpg, 65% FG, 3 ASSTS, 2 ST. If he moves into an Hakeem territory and tears the NBA a new one. Do we have the firepower to support him and compete for a title right now? Is it enough to carry our rag-tag fleet of rebels to victory?

Personally I think Rudy has it in him to do something like this. The offense is the big question mark really, but the rest of it is within the realm of reality. Also, I think that Favors, Hayward, Hood and Burks are a great supporting cast. Can you imagine Rudy with a performance something like this?

18 point, 16 rebound, 11 block and 10 assist

So...what if?

edit: if there is bad music or something in the video let me know, I had to watch it without sound due to random sound ads on JF.

I think we would still need a top 15 PG to win a title.
That's not overly difficult to accomplish.
Playing the what if game, if Gobert becomes Hakeem, the FO will make the necessary moves to contend immediately. No doubt at all.

Dennis Lindsey has the assets, the ownership support, and the balls to do so, if it ever came to that.

But here's a wrinkle: what if Gobert gets so good that God himself takes him up to reside with Him? That would probably be awesome for Gobert, but what about those of us left behind? First Danté, now Gobert?

Remember - this is a what if game about winning a chip NOW.

Lowry/Conley/Teague (pick one)
Burks
Hood
Hayward
Gobert

Small ball and Gobert. Defend the **** out of the perimeter and let Rudy clean up the mistakes/mismatches.
If Rudy becomes Hakeem, Favors is trade bait. (Come at me)

I think you're massively underestimating Gordon's playmaking

Yeah but I don't see Gordon as that LeBron-esque. He can handle playmaking on a piecemeal basis, but not as our go-to guy or the point guard, per se.

But that is intriguing in the What If machine. What if we literally moved Hayward to the PG spot?

Hayward
Burks
Hood
Favors
Monster Gobert

Or in Dr. Jones' trade favors scenario...

Hayward
Burks
Hood
Pleiss
Gobert?

Who or what could we get for Favors anyway?

What IF on Rudy... doesn't diminish the value of the Rudy/Derrick combo. We'd do much better with an avg. PG, than to blow apart the Wasatch Front.

And... think a top level 3-PT 2 is more important than Burks & Hood on the floor at the same time. You need depth, so I'm fine splitting time w/ Burks & Hood... but believe we currently have 2 pieces missing... above avg. PG, and a above avg. SG.

Let's play what if in this thread and get drunk on kool-aid.

What IF... we don't need to get THAT crazy with Rudy's numbers?
What IF Pließ is a decent streatch 4?

In my Pollyanna world, Rudy toughens up Tibor, and Tibor teaches Rudy some offensive skills...
I'm looking forward to a competitive/supportive new Franco-German / franco-allemande / Deutsch-Französische relationship!

Uhm... What IF... we weren't stupid...

Gordon is Good, Gordon is Great, let us thank Him...
but putting him at point means we give up a borderline SF All-Star, and get back a slow, below avg. PG.

With size and length that other PGs can't match. This is the what if game after all. I could see Gordon giving other PGs fits. And I do not think he is as slow as billed here. It would be interesting to see anyway.

It's not that he's slow. It's that he's too slow to d up elite guards.

Man Hakeen was a thing of beauty to watch. When he wasnt beating us in the playoffs during the 90s of course.

I dont see Rudy becoming a Hakeen type of player. Do we really need him to be?

I see Favors as developing that Karl Malone jumper, and becoming more an offensive weapon over Rudy. Isnt that ok?
Why cant Rudy be the cleanup man on the glass, put back alley hoop dunk machine. Let Hay, Hood, and Fav be the offensive
stars.

So what does the "wsan" portion of your username stand for?

The san part means honored I believe. Or something along those lines.

W could be all kinds of things.
