What's new

The babadook

Jaeger means hunter.

You're welcome.

Be sure to have your blankie handy.

Haha.. I do hope they make it even more terrifying like step it up a notch or two ... really want to see how far they can take it.

I was kinda caught off guard the first time round, I'll be ready for this next one :)

Pacific rim was almost unwatchable. Why didn't they just post a Jäger at the hole with one of those swords all the time? Why didn't they just use the sword all the time period? Why wait to use the special weapons that actually do damage? How did the 3 man Jäger control the third arm when they still all moved synchronized? . Why can't a single person drive one alone? Why not have the things remote controlled? Lame lame lame.

LOL .. what?

Why didn't they just post a Jäger at the hole with one of those swords all the time?

Obviously they had an advantage above water.

Why didn't they just use the sword all the time period?

Not all Jaeger had sword though. Each Jaegers are different.

Why wait to use the special weapons that actually do damage?

Kaiju improve all the time. Jaeger had an advantage for a time but Kaiju was improving too fast.

How did the 3 man Jäger control the third arm when they still all moved synchronized? .

They are triplets.

Why can't a single person drive one alone?

To do with the single mind not being enough to control - this was explained in detail in the movie.

Why not have the things remote controlled?

Not quick enough, need to be face to face for the reaction time.

Response in Red. I'm sure other real Pacific Rim fans will be able to answer them better.

None of those answered the questions. If the sword is so effective then give every Jaeger one. That's a big duh. I didn't mean wait to CREATE the weapon. I mean wait to USE it. Like the big gun.

Well obviously they didn't want to use it willy nilly because the Kaiju would come up with a way of defending it over time. They've done that before no reason they won't do it again going up from Category 1 to what it is now which is Category 5. They kept on improving and human just couldn't keep up with the technology.

The strategy is they basically wanted to keep it as the secret weapon when killing the final boss.

I'm not buying it. When did they say that the kaiju were learning and somehow genetically engineering themselves based on our reactions. That is a huge stretch.

Also back to the 3 armed dude. You missed the point. For the Jaeger to work the people did every motion the Jaeger did in perfect synchronization. How does a two armed person perfectly synchronization THREE ARMED movements regardless of how many people were doing it? The argument "because there were 3 of them" only holds water if one of them does something different to control the third arm but when they engage the third arm they make it very clear that all 3 have to be perfectly in sync. So that makes absolutely no sense.

Also if they have the technology to connect them to the machine why can't they do it remotely? Still makes no sense.

Why don't they just use their best weapon right at the hole, like an array of 20 of those huge guns. Hold the Jägers in reserve in case one big enough finally breaks through. Then unleash 10 Jägers on the one kaiju. Then upgrade the guns. Rinse repeat. Easy.

Sorry that movie has so many holes it isn't even funny.

How is that a huge stretch? The started from Category 1 and moved to Category 2, and 3, and 4 and 5. Doesn't that tell you that they are improving all the time?

That is curious but obviously there wasn't enough time in the movie to go into it.

Also if they have the technology to connect them to the machine why can't they do it remotely? Still makes no sense.

Kaiju's attack at the Hong Kong Habour made all electronic/computer function obsolete, remember? So even if they had found a way of doing it remotely, it wouldn't have worked after that attack, as it seemed the Kaiju have found a way of disabling all the electrical/computer functions.

Them learning to disable the electronic/computer function is another example of the Kaiju's learning and improvement - something you have previously questioned.

Why don't they just use their best weapon right at the hole, like an array of 20 of those huge guns. Hold the Jägers in reserve in case one big enough finally breaks through. Then unleash 10 Jägers on the one kaiju. Then upgrade the guns. Rinse repeat. Easy.

If the Kaiju are improving all the time they would eventually find ways to counter that gun - may be Category 6 or 7, for example. You really need to get through that hole and stop them in their tracks once and for all.

Sorry that movie has so many holes it isn't even funny.

Comments above in red.

Notwithstanding the explanation above, it seems you've already made up your mind so nothing I say is really going to convince you otherwise. Whatever bro, let's just agree to disagree.

They aren't improving they are just getting bigger. Nothing about them implied any level of intelligence. But we can agree to disagree. I will fight to the death to defend your right to be wrong.

Nothing about them implied any level of intelligence? How about when they sent that shockwave that disabled the onboard electronic/computer of the newer Jaegers and rendered them useless???? Please explain how they did that having zero "intelligence".

Are we even watching the same movie? LOL ...

I thought we agreed to disagree? If you want to have this conversation I have no problem with that. I have no problem going back and rewatching Pacific Rim again. Everything I got that I have already mentioned was from a single half-interested viewing. I am sure another viewing paying attention will blow it all apart. It does have some nice visuals, so there is that.

Agree to disagree just totally confused as to how you can think that they have no intelligence.
