Locke did a great job outlining what the Jeff Withey signing means on the final roster determination for all the non-guaranteed guys. He broke it down so that a dumb guy like me could understand!!!!!

Locke really likes Withey ands sounds like the jazz aren't 100% on Pleiss.

Makes more sense to go with defense with your Center to be honest.. we already have Booker and Lyles who are both scoring PFs off the bench to pair with the defensive Whitey.

Just kidding, but that is an incredibly bad typo. At least I think it's a typo. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

Since Locke parrots whatever the FO wants him to say, it sounds like they've been watching the FIBA games and don't like his defense. His contract isn't that big a deal ($3M/per, wasn't it?). Or maybe they just think he'll need time to adjust to the NBA. I don't expect much from Lyles this year, either.

It kind of sounds like some or all of the guys on non-guaranteed contracts and Jarrett could be dead men walking.

6 Bigs - Gobert, Favors, Booker, Lyles, Withey, Pleiss
5 Wings - Hayward, Hood, Burks, Ingles and one of: Millsap, Johnson or Graham
4 PG's - Burke, Cotton, Neto and Exum

I just don't see the Jazz going with 2 PG's until Exum returns.

It absolutely is a typo, how could you think so badly of me!!!
I knew it was a typo. Made me laugh when I saw it. Of all the typos one could make, that was truly a doozy!

The Jazz dont tell Locke what to say...

But they do pay his salary. There's a conflict of interest there.

What is he saying that is so conflicting?

He just said he likes Withey and he doesn't think the Jazz are 100% sold on Pleiss, which makes sense with the Withey signing. All the things he says are just kind of common sense insights.

Yeah but he would never question Withey in a way that's detrimental to the Jazz as an organisation as a whole because he's being paid by them. That goes against Locke's ability to be an impartial analyst but that's what you get.

We all just need to keep in mind that Locke is being paid by the Jazz when listening to everything that he says.

My take on Locke is that he will form a conclusion and then find the statistics to back up that conclusion. If Lindsey had gone out and signed an offensive center, Locke would likely say it was a great fit because we need more scoring.

Exactly.

It appears as though he's being thorough and credible because his analysis is backed up by proper stats, but there is always going to be a hidden agenda as long as he is being paid by the Jazz.

I don't mind him, he is enthusiastic and is passionate. We just have to remember to take his analysis/opinion with a grain of salt as he is after all being paid by the Jazz.

I'd still rather listen to him calling the game than Boler, Booner, or Harp. They're like nails on a chalkboard and go off on some crazy tangents. Just call the ****ing game, please.

Yes, I think Locke understands not to say anything toxic about the organization, but that doesn't mean he cant have his own original opinions.
